Alot of people are waiting for this .
I have an idea.

what would be great is a basic host, more a vst wraper for linux with the possibility to output the vst parameters to a mini lcd like this one:

So you could have a rackmount pc standalone just like a harware rack.
I know it just sounds like the receptor but someone did something similar to control is korg oasys card(he wrote a program so he can select patch with midi and see them with a mini lcd on a rackmount pc)and it something not expensive to do.

I heard there is suposed to be a version of energy xt for linux.
Imagine energy xt for linux on a rackmount pc with a mini lcd (about10$)where you can see parameter of vst plugins on a very optimized version of linux with just the essential stuff to run the vst wraper.
Just like a hardware rack.

Please share your idea.

btw im french so my english is so so :)

Great idea - love Linux myself (in the main, apart from all the buggering about with dependencies etc.)

Although I suspect this has been done already - seen Plugzilla? - Supports LADSPA as well as VST so I presume it's working on some kind of Linus base. (Could be talking gibberish though - just a guess)

But it's about £2500 I think.
Make something similar yourself......£150 - £200.

Well the idea is to have something very cheap.
The cost of the lcd is not expensive and what would be great is to have total control of the vst wraper via midi so you could change vst plugins, edit patch, configure routing etc..etc..

Plugzilla is very expensive.

The idea is to have something stable where you dont have to bring a monitor, mouse and keyboard for live playing.

Laptop are expensive and not upgradable and the intern hd is slow.

Imagine something like plugzilla but instead of paying £2500 you can buy the software who come(for exemple)with the mini lcd + pc mounting bracket like this one http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/63 ... index.html

Ps: It could be done with winxp too.

FANTASTIC IDEA :!: :!: :!: just as long as it is not a tiny 2 row lcd.

Linux is great becaus it is so custamizable. I saw a linux system this guy made for his car stereo to play mp3s. The computer fit under the seat, and he had an lcd touch screen for selecting songs and play parameters. I thought it was a pretty cool idea, Even though you can play mp3s on cds or from an ipod, this guy put some big hard drives in the computer to store his whole collection of mp3s. So he could basically have any song he liked at his fingertips. :D :!: :!: :o
