I was wondering if the introverts would be more common than extroverts, but I never expected it to be this unbalanced. Crazy

Bunch of anti-social elements. Send them all to the work farms harvesting dental floss, is what I say.

There is more solitude to be found on the stage, than in the crowd.
When I was in high school, I was very introverted, shy, uncomfortable around people. I still prefer home and quiet to out and about. When I was in college, I started a band, and after not being able to find a frontman, decided to do it myself. Gave me a bit of confidence, and I now have an "extrovert mode" I can turn on if I have to or need to, still wouldn't classify myself as anything other than an introvert though.
I think a lot of musicians are like that, it's an outlet, and a way to participate in society on your own terms. Not surprised to find that this community would be more introverted, even if we have a weird need to perform in public. it fits somehow, dunno.

^^^. Yep. I was painfully shy as a teen. Between the normal puberty insanity, there was also a lot of bad family stuff that had left me practically catatonic and socially non-functional by the time I started playing at 14. The guitar brought me friends, attention, and, GURLZ! After a while I developed a quasi-normal sociable persona. It's worn a bit thin over the last few years.
I like performing in public. It's a buzz and once you're hooked, it's hard to give up.

What I noticed is:
To compose really good songs you have to be pretty introverted. Because only
then can you focus on it and really realize your ideas and turn them into music.
This also applies to the complexity of recording and mixing a song.
But to get your songs out there, to get known and to promote them, you have
to be as extroverted as possible. Because only then will you meet enough
people and make contacts and gain awareness in the first place.
Depending on which phase you are in - song composition or promotion - it is
better to be introverted or extroverted.
I feel that switching between intro and extravert doesn't work "at the push
of a button", but that I need a transition phase of several months at a time.
"Making music" works best when an introverted composer and an
extraverted "jack of all trades" team up.
