Stumbled across a pretty cheap Elektron Digitone on reverb.com and couldn’t resist.

When I was a kid, I read an article claiming plants react to kind or angry thoughts, and they used some kind of sensors to detect the changes. I was pretty dubious about it, but in a short story I was writing, I added psychic cybernetic houseplants, just so you could unlock your door by thinking about how much you love your cactus.vurt wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 6:12 pm voice control now
can anyone top that?
im looking specifically for "vague wave of hand" so i can pretend to be a jedi![]()

Not a sexy purchase, but I just bought a Cioks DC7 through the Perfect Circuit sale. This will be my desktop power supply for the make noise desktops and 4ms pods (the voice controlled power up).
I’m moving the Eventide (Cioks) PowerMax to the nano pedal board and the once again setting free the Cioks 4 to keep me portable in my mansion of an apartment. It seems overkill but eliminating setup/teardown time and creating flexibility is huge.
On the pedal front I’m tempted by the Halloween edition of Walrus Audio’s (Rat clone) Iron Horse. Then JHS just released their 11 mode/11 types of Rat goodness for an extra $50 compared to the Iron Horse.
I still have my brother’s grunge era original Rat but we’re thinking it might be worth selling so I have to make up my mind soon.

Cool, I gotta consolidate some of the power supplies here. I don't mind paying a lot for a premium solution, I need to do some research on it. The Rat sounds cool, honestly I'm not overly familiarelxsound wrote: Sun Oct 31, 2021 4:40 am Not a sexy purchase, but I just bought a Cioks DC7 through the Perfect Circuit sale. with it beyond some software emulations. Aside from the ehx harmonizer I'm going to pick up
from Uncle E. I'm pretty interested in the Zvex box of metal, because, I need more metal...

Aside from picking up an OG rat, the JHS one is hard to beat. It covers quite a bit.pekbro wrote: Sun Oct 31, 2021 5:04 amCool, I gotta consolidate some of the power supplies here. wut, wut, wut? you don't like metal?
Heh, i dunno what from what when it comes to amps or pedals. Over the years i never
paid much attention to what all the software was modeled after, I just know I tended
to like stuff with any of the following words in the name, black, death or some variety
of snake, also the word muff.

It really is! Not cheap, but arguably the best DC supply around and in a great form factor.
Considering a Cioks 4 to live next to my modular and power misc synths and pedals. What are you running yours off?

Is it the main guy, or the pedals?
I don’t own anything JHS, but after listening I thought they did a great job on their multi rat pedal. Iron Horse looks like it has its own sound, which is not a bad thing. It just misses that “thick” grungy sound.
There are also a crazy amount of rat clones including a convincing $30 Donner pedal. I think it was called Dark Mouse or something.

it is the guy not the gear.
much of the gear ive heard, i admit, not bad stuff. although in his early days, there were a lot of similar complaints to what behringer get now from synth folk about using others designs

Right now the EventideMax (made by Cioks/cutdown version of the DC7) is handling those duties but DC7 will take its place on the desk.imrae wrote: Sun Oct 31, 2021 11:52 amIt really is! Not cheap, but arguably the best DC supply around and in a great form factor.

I locked up my Cioks 4 on the pedal board but once the DC7 comes I’m going to keep it free to power up stuff when not at the desk. I love that it can be powered off a battery/power brick. I mostly want it to play the 4ms pods away from the desk.
I think Cioks 4 was the smartest buy I made early on. The EventideMax wasn’t so smart… because I should have just bought the DC7 (but I was trying to be cheap), but it’ll still serve a purpose moving forward.

Ah, got it. He does seem polarizing. Doesn’t bother me so much.vurt wrote: Sun Oct 31, 2021 3:43 pmit is the guy not the gear.

I actually don’t like the cartoon rat on the pedal or else I would have bought it.
