If anyone has any suggestions or requests regarding ST2...go here and let IK know about it:

http://www.sampletank.com/STSuggestion.html

Some ideas:
Mouse wheel support!
Search feature that doesn't take eons!
Easier manipulation of MIDI controller assignments!

Etc...

If you want to make multiple suggestions, so you can do them all in the one box, or you can submit one and then use the "back" button on your browser to submit more.

Forever,

Kim.

I'll agree with these, and I'll also add:
DFD (Direct from disc)
Faster Startup (takes 10x longer than any other plugin to start up)

ST2 is great, but of course there's room for improvement :)

Agreed.

Just lately I've been seeing quite a bit of people with *fixable* issues with ST2, and I suddenly decided to submit all my suggestions - there were quite a lot of them!

So I thought - why not turn this negative into a positive? Instead of people posting their niggles here, post them directly to IK. Maybe then we'll start getting some tasty updates.

I have posted the following "New wanted features"

It would be handy if ST2 could remember the last used .STMP file in the “ST2Pref.txt” file, e.g. "MidiMap=SR Bass"

The possibility to also place Combi-presets in the MidiMap.

What about extending the MidiMap to include “Data MSB” and “Data LSB” with the “Program Change”, effectively extending the MidiMap to 2 million Program Change presets. This would be enough to access ALL ST2 presets ( Combi-presets and User-presets ) from a MIDI-controller. NO MORE MOUSING ABOUT ! !

The Option to choose either per-programmed Midi-CCs or Globally set Midi-CCs as these were available in ST1.

Are you talking about the program change maps, or something else?

Globally-set CC assignments would be good, but the reason the system was changed for ST2 is that there are now too many parameters to be controlled using the ST1 system.

I actually suggested one step further - MIDI assignment sets should be saveable and recallable. Not only that, but there should be a default assignment set that gets loaded with each instrument automatically. And that pitchbend and RPN/NRPN should be assignable (for greater resolution). And inverse/reverse data mapping (low->high and high->low) should be possible. etc etc etc I could go on for days.

Hi Kim,

I am indeed talking about Program Change Maps, which are now limited to maximum 128 presets in total, ST2 forgets the last used .STMP (Program Change Map). Every time one has to load the .STMP file manually.

It is possible globally set up to 128 CC-parameters per MIDI-channel. Assuming most of the time one does not need to adjust per zone, one could easily get away with 128 CCs: 4x macro, 56x(8x7) Synth-Sampler, 1x Filter-type, 1x Filter slope, 1x Synth mode, 40x (5x8) Effects, 1x (5 bits+1) Effects/Sync On/Off, 1x Pitch, 1x Modwheel, 1x Pan, 1x Volume, 1x Port Time, 1x Poly, 1x Octave, 1xPolyVoices == Total=112 CC-parameters.

Even when e.g. "part 2" is linked to e.g. "Midi Ch 1", the CC's could still be programmed through Midi Channel 2. This method makes it much easier to use e.g. Behringer BCR2000 Midi controller.

The main problem I have with ST2 is one must always fiddle around with the mouse to get any sounds loaded which one needs for a song.

These are all good suggestions. Just make sure that if you post them here that you also post them on that link that Jeez provided too so IK can see them (the developers won't necessarily find it here but they WILL find it if it is posted on that link).

jeez,

On this web page I have drawn a draft midiCC-map to show how it could be made possible to have all controls of ST2 mapped to one single CC. Such a CC-map could be saved as a .STCC file, which is set in the "ST2pref.txt" as "midiCC=mycc.STCC".

The idea is, even though multiple voice parts can be routed to a single midi channel, each voice part retains it's original midi channel for midiCCs.

With this method it is possible to connect midi keyboard controllers and midiCC controllers (like Behringer BCR2000) at the same time, and use the whole lot live...

The beauty of this would be the simplicity of the midi-setup, without using a mouse...

I didn't know about that! How do I save and load MIDI CC assignments?

BTW, the ST1 method included a different CC for each effect type (ST2 assigns them by effect slot), so the old ST1 CC system still doesn't work for ST2.

:hihi: this is the way I would like it to work :hihi:

I just wanted to show that it is technically possible to get all parameters in a single CC-map...

I hope they listen to my one truly important suggestion - overall performance boost. I wonder if this is possible? So far I see no indication either way - I really hope there's an update planned that will make ST2 not take 20 seconds to load :D

Thanks for posting that link. I had no idea there was a suggestions submitter thing.

Rellik,

ST2 loads on my Celeron machine in 5 seconds. ( without any sounds )

Do you mean loading sounds :?:

I have Sample Tank 2 LE. I have a slight vision imperiment, and find the color scheme annoyingly hard to read! For those of us who can't see real well, your choice of colors is so close, (brown against red) that makes the product difficult to use. I know you don't allow for color changes in the LE version, but a skin with more contrasting colors would be most helpful for those of us with aging eyes!!

I sent this suggestion to them. I have a lot of trouble trying to read the GUI in LE. Hope they'll show us some love with this!!!

Loads on my Pentium 4 in about 15 seconds... but yeah, faster loading sounds would be cool too :D

GET RID OF THE CHALLENGE/RESPONSE SHIT.

Seriously, C/R is the worst method of copy protection ever, especially since IK only gives 3 free codes. :x Wow, what a great way to do business. I bet IK has lost quite a few customers due to this.

Include a dongle in the package. Or a serial number. Or ANYTHING, but no more C/R.

I AM looking forward to purchasing ST2 XL, but seriously, C/R is the most annoying way of copy protection.
