AFAIK ChromeOS users are almost entirely coming from Windows, not MacOS.

I fully support it. Windows is a major burden for people who only need to go online, type up some documents, watch some movies, etc. ChromeOS devices are clearly superior for such users.
Its all about cost. ChromeOS being the cheapest device. Apple being the most expensive. Microsoft aims for flexibility. With Windows 365, you can have Windows on any device. Of course its only affordable for companies.

Heres some proper tests of the new intel chip vs AMD. Its only games but it outperforms AMD and at the same or lower temps, its also cheaper.

The problem here is, it is missing the test configuration:
Operating System + Version,
GPU Driver + Version,
Exact Ram Spec. (It's missing CAS Latency etc.)

This is not a proper test without these specs. Also there needs to be a properly set up scene, not live gameplay.

Can you just wait a day to get the test by trusted magazines / sites?

Sorry to chime in here, but those tests are from a Youtuber known for putting Fake tests up, he did the same when the Ryzen 5000 series CPU's came out this time last year, and their release proved his inaccuracy and untrue depiction. His results are fake.

You'll have to wait until the embargo lifts tomorrow and the real results will be available. I'm really intrigued to see if the 12900k plays nicely on the Music Production side. The differences in clock speeds between the 8 P cores and 8 E cores will surely cause issues somewhere.

12900k playing nice with Win 11 and pro audio may well = new PC for me next year- I have had 7 years from my last i7 based DAW so it owes me nothing!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I've worked with my I7-2600k overclocked to 4,5ghz until this year. 10 years!
But had to move on, it began producing HAL blue screens recently. (Though it continues to run perfectly without an overclock, but can't be used for music prod obviously this slow)

Unfortunately these come now overclocked out of the box, so need to go for best single core performance.

Fortunately until now AMD could deliver this much better than Intel. I'm really intrigued what Intel will offer, but my hopes are not high, that the Intel will surpass the AMD flagship. It sounds like it's overclocked to the max and thus eating power/producing heat like a Muscle Car :D
AMD is not cool either, but can keep it below 60 with a good cooler. Let's see what Intel has in mind with cooling.

Next year will be a much better year for PC building, as AMD and probably Intel will release their next-gen designs. (And also GPUs will get cheaper mid-year hopefully).

AMD will release something right after Intel drops this i9 . Hey it's good for the consumers . I'm still on an i7 920 2.6 ghz and 6gb ram . I'm actually thinking of just getting an AMD 5600g and calling it a day .

So you must have a highly efficient way of working :)

I do too much sidechain routing which limits the parallel use of cores often in Ableton Live.
But for me personally Audiogridder is the solution, just needs to become a bit more stable. It perfectly offloads processing to all available cores.

Anyway, all the AMD chips of the 5xxxx gen (Ryzen 3) are top. Can't do anything wrong right now.

I'm still on i7 3770/8GB RAM, can't really find a reason to upgrade at all, my most demanding projects can't max out this machine, don't game and all that, just use it for audio and casual internet, don't have GPU, use Intel integrated one, which freaks out half of people I talk to about computers/components :)

Ha yeah, on my Studio computer I'm using the Intel onboard + added AMD 550 gpu for 4 monitors. Works a charm. Cannot say that about my old NVIDIA card (GTX 570), they crippled multi monitor output half a year before discontinuing the driver for it. Intel fortunately has quite long driver support for the onboards I must say.

Anyway yeah, as you said, if there's no need of upgrading, I never would do it either. So much hassle re-activating all those plugins with bad CP C/R mechanisms. Makes me really love Ilok. Had to wait 3 days until I could use my Vertigo plugins again.

Ok, better controlled benchmarks

For people not watching videos, here's the review roundup.
Looks like a ~10% Single core increase. Not bad, but the heat is there :)

Not a fair heat test. What temp with same cooler does the AMD do at 100% load? And what scoring?

This test should be fair. It's the same cooler with the same Blender benchmark project.
Otherwise you couldn't compare at all.

You'd think Jeremy Clarkson was the head of Intel's R&D department.

edit: Why is TP using a NH-U14S? A single-fan aircooler for an i9 is obviously inadequate. TweakTown's used a NH-14A and their reported temps, while still not great, at least look more manageable.
