Specials planned for Cubase for Black Friday / end of year / version 11.5?

Post

I hear there's not gonna be 11.5 and they'll go straight to 12 :D

Thank you for your answer.

Oh well, why go straight to version 12, a major update then?

So as an update every end of the year, most certainly a promotion for the event 😊

It's just some unfounded speculation. On some forum a person from Steinberg apparently wrote about Dorico 4 and Cubase 12 and later they edited the post and removed the numbers. Who knows, maybe there won't be 11.5 and they'll just go straight to 12 next year with Apple Silicon support, optional eLicenser and other stuff? If that's the case, you could expect some good deals on licenses and upgrades by the end of the year, to keep the money flowing in.

We should know soon enough.

As a longtime Cubase owner I can guarantee, without hesitation, that M1 support ain't gonna be free.

I never suggested that.

I know, just throwing it out there in case anyone had the silly idea that it'd be released as a free update. :hihi:

Well, it was free for Live, FL Studio, Logic, Studio One. So far only Bitwig put it into 'big number' update, although there it's more complex because whether that's paid or free depends on how it lined up to particular person's upgrade plan (I got v4 for "free").

And one could argue it should be included in minor release, because if it's a headline feature of v12 - or v11.5 for that matter - then how compelling and useful is that for people on Windows?

It's also a different market than it was just few years ago.

Personally I don't care about Apple Silicon (just yet) and I'd rather see them finalise the high-DPI transition, rework automation and controller assignment (it's not bad, just convoluted compared to e.g. Studio One), clean up the UI.

It's amazing how long their transition to highDPI has been taking. I remember when they first started adding support for it, which I think was fonts only initially; That was more than 5 years ago.

Cubase updates have been in Dec or Nov for the last 10 years, at least.
Therefore, the combination of release date and grace period precludes any Black Friday sale.
Cubase updates are usually 40%-50% off only in the summer.
Which I took advantage of to get 11.0.
Waiting for Dec to actually activate it to get 11.5.

Thanks for your feedback.

I will most certainly take Cubase Artist and upgrade to Pro as soon as there is a promotion

Post

TBH Artist provides most of what most people want I suspect. I used to have full version for years - got out of music and when I got back into it rebought Cubase with Artist 10.5 - I really haven't missed any of the extras in Pro. Artist gives you most of the main plugins and most of the functionality - in fact you get more than the website says - last time I looked, some of the plugins I use in Artist are only supposed to be in Pro. I seem to be able to use the IR reverb that isn't available in Artist.
And unless you're a power user - the audio and midi functionality is pretty deep in Artist. I can't really see myself going back to upgrading to Pro ever again...(I don't notate music - I suppose that'd be a main reason for Pro?)
