I believe you that its great, they just won’t get me over the fence with such an upgrade price… I bet all that are willing to pay that price did so already. They could cash some more in, if they think about a special sale maybe…

It is a very significant update though. The granular mode for samples, plus the 6 oscillators which can now be any type of osc - this allows for some DX7 type of FM.
Add to that a new, full blown Wavetable engine. A huge library of new sampled instruments that include some very iconic vintage synths (System-100, VP-330, Arp Solina, OBXa, Juno6, MS20, Super Jupiter, Pro-1, mini700, SH-2, and extra packs that have the Oscar, the ultra rare Macbeth M5 modular...etc). This alone turns Equator2 into a vintage synth monster.

There are new Waveshaper and Saturation in each Filter module.

With the granular engine, it is possible to sequence samples with LFOs, envelopes, or any other mod source. This is such a powerful feature. See the demo below. There are new effects including a sublimne sounding and very deep Granular Delay.

Anyway, here is a demo of a single granular preset. Notice the complexity. This is one sustained note, and I'm adding aftertouch, mod-wheel, macors as the sound plays. You can hear how the various samples come in and out, this is that dynamic, sample scanning or seqeucning that is powerful. Since the mod source has a wide mod range (assigned to teh sample index that sweeps through the samples), sometimes we get 'happy accidents' where unexpected samples pop-up into the mix. This is a great feature if one is interested in happy accidents:

Equator2 is really a whole new synth.

It's not intended as such. It's additional information to what Echoes in the Attick mentioned about Equator2. So it's supplementary information about a ROLI product in a ROLI thread. Is this a very controversial thing? :D

Where did you get that information from? I still work at ROLI (Luminary now). :D

I didn't get any information.
I didn't know if you were still there after the corporate shenanigans.

You're a brilliant sound designer, one of the best in my book.

Still I think it's helpful to know that your enthusiasm isn't just personal love for Equator.
And yes, your posts do sound like advertisements regularly, as much helpful information as they may contain. So adding an "advertisement" or "paid content" warning every now and then seems appropriate for those who do not know you.

I don't care either way, Equator2 doesn't even run on my system.

Cheers,

Tom

Sure, like every Humphrey Bogart movie needs a special extra information about how fantastic Camel cigarettes taste (or whatever he smoked - RIP).

And since the thread is basically about how Roli hit the wall and everybody waiting for Luminary finding one to hit on it's own, I'm sure this is the perfect place for this kind of post.

Funny tastes and such.
But hey, whatever you think does Rolinary the most good.
It's the new thing to do if your corporation starts to smell, Meta and all that.

It's unfortunate that you think that. I don't intend to advertise Equator. If I did, I'd go to all threads with other plugins and post about it there. But I don't do that.

In this particular instance, I thought of adding to the information that Eachoes provided in a thread about ROLI that talks about a ROLi product.

When talking about MPE, Seaboards, Equator, I do so in order to provide genuine information, hints and tips, specifically when it comes to a deep and often misundertood subject like 'MPE'.

In all these cases I post in my private capacity sharing my knowledge of MPE in MPE related topics (at least when relating to ROLI).

One time I made a video about how to play SLIDE on a Seaboard RISE specifically beause I saw people struggle with the concept in a KVR thread. I showed a Seaboard RISE in the video and the correct SLIDE technique. Is this advertising or providing a helpful tip?
I remember when I posted about the expression curves in a thread that specifically talked about MPE, I used a zoomed screen shot of Equator2 Expression Curves in order to show what I mean by Expression Curves, and the reason for using Equator was that it was the only synth with such explicit Expression Curve mod sources. My post which was meant to provide an argument 'for' the inclusion of such mod sources in MPE synths was misconstrued as an advert for Equator. That's really sad.

There were instances when I mention the Hacken Cintinuum, Linnstrumnet, Madrona Soundboard, since I love MPE and anything relating to it. So yes, I share out of love for the topic. :)

That was uncalled for. Why such a negative post with such a misplaced tone ? I posted additional information about a synth plugin that's often misunderstood. A synth that's mentioned in a thread about the company that made the synth. There are no ulterior motives anywhere here.

Yeah, like we all misunderstood what Roli is doing here, gilding a turd.
And how long a life that poor little misunderstood synth will probably have with this "new" company.

If you want to help us to understand the fantastic new concept of Rolinary and why anybody should trust them, go ahead, enlighten us.
