https://www.steinberg.net/cubase/
It was there on their site. Now it's been removed.

Hopefully people didn't activate because of the grace period claim. Typically the grace period is for about a month before any new release.
The page on the site said Cubase 12 will be released in 2022.

So, closer to 2 months at the bare minimum (that would be early January) and could be as far as 13 months away (if December).

Maybe there will still be an 11.5 (albeit skinny) upgrade in a couple of weeks, but the incentive to do so is that v12 will be no additional charge.

Post

ooof that was a rough slip up

I saw it myself when it was on their website. I bought Cubase 11 Pro license right away. Now it's gone from their website and I'm confused

Best you can do now is to keep it unregistered and wait for the official announcement, unless done already.

Yes, they stated explicitly that the grace period hasn't started yet.

I for one would be glad to see a numeric update (e.g., 11 to 12) every year or so if that meant that Steinberg would stop trying to justify these paid 0.5 updates by including unneeded FX plugins and (even worse) more useless content. Just build the world's best DAW and leave all the FX and content releases to third party companies who do it better.

Leakage. Publicity. Bet the blogs are already eagerly drafting their articles.

Sorry but changing version numbers will not magically speed up development process by 200%. You would get the same features and content, just without 0.5 in name.

I think you miss my point (which seems pretty obvious if you actually read my post). But let me state it in a manner you will hopefully understand: If Steinberg stops developing FX plugins and content libraries for their various instruments and FX, that would free up resources to work on core DAW features and legacy code cleanup. This would speed up development. Make sense?

No. You don't just put stuff like that on your site, and put it online after that.

It's not that simple. It's not the same teams who do the core code, plugins and definitely not sound content. Sure, they could fire the 2nd and 3rd groups and hire more to the 1st - that could work; but then many people - me, for example - prefer to use native devices as much as possible and we appreciate the efforts to develop new stuff and upgrade old ones to contemporary standards.

What pisses me off with Steinberg, is the fact they don't release ANY unpaid upgrades - everything's either x.0 or x.5 and paid, whereas every other developer constantly adds stuff (and fixes bugs, obviously) with free point updates.

I suspect, like others do, its the dongle drop, and M1 support. The dongle drop I would assume is taking a lot longer and making the new system integrated and working its going to take 2 years.

I can't see much else being added, and if that is the case, that V12 is more to do with the Dongle Drop and M1 support with a limited amount of new features and improvements, I hope the price is going to reflect that, because i'd rather keep the dongle and make M1 support a point update for free as it should be.
