Hi,

My old Roland D-5 needs to have its battery replaced.
How do I do a tone RAM dump from and then to the D-5 again without it losing all its settings and my own user patches?
The manual describes how to do a tone RAM dump to a memory card, but I only have a ROM card.
Is there a way to do some kind of RAM dump to and from my Windows computer (with for instance my Bitwig Studio 16-track and my Arturia Keystep32 for the MIDI I/O)?
I own both original D-5 manuals and have found a video on YouTube about how to do the battery replacement, but nothing on saving the RAM data.

TIA, Bart

Is there a midi sysex dump in the data transfer menu?

(hoping the D5 / D10 / D20 / D50 are similar enough,)

Would this be how I should do it?
I'm not sure whether that 'clones' all the data to a bulk sysex file. I will try in the near future.

Does anyone on here have experience with doing this on a D-5/D-10/D-20 series?

Bulk Dump - All is what you want.

Test the procedure prior. First assert your DAW can record & send sysex data.
Then do a bulk dump. Change something trivial and try to restore. The trivial change should be reverted.

If this is proven to work, you're safe to change batteries.
