Time is money, I don't always have time to type up such elaborate uber-polite replies. I always speak my mind and don't lowpass filter it for touchy-feely people. Take me as I am. Or don't. I don't care.

OK, you don't have time to be polite to people because you're more concerned with making money. I frequently encounter this attitude in my job as Director of Product Management for web development teams. When the Product Managers and UX Designers on my team complain to me about this type of borderline autistic behavior, I have a chat with my Engineering counterpart and make sure the offending party is transferred to a different team or dismissed.

Boy am I really glad not to have a superior who would totally misdiagnose me like that. As if there was anything to diagnose there, even.

Look around a bit. Not everyone is polite all the damn time on the Internet.

In this clip I entered only two notes, 1 beat in length each. First note was placed in between measures 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 and second note was placed on measure 1.3. This turned out to be crucial, that only second note was quantized. I chose square wave for the LFO to make changes more obvious.
Settings: LFO SYNC OFF, LFO TRIGGER HARD. In this setting LFO was restarted with each note in the MIDI clip.
Settings: LFO SYNC OFF, LFO TRIGGER SOFT. In this setting LFO was triggered with first note only. It kept the modulation going for the duration of first note and the second note in the MIDI clip. The first note determined when LFO started.
Settings: LFO SYNC OFF, LFO TRIGGER FREE. In this setting LFO was not being triggered by any of the notes in the MIDI clip. It kept running freely (duh) :)
Super cool advice! Thank you very much

I'm glad it was helpful. After finding out about these modes, now I wish KORG Polysix and Mono/Poly VSTs would also have this LFO TRIGGER SOFT functionality :) Or even LFO with a sine wave for that matter. I used to think there was no major difference between triangle and sine waves as modulation sources. Now I know there is. PG-8X definitely has something unique to offer.

A little gift for all PG-8X users, I made a 64-preset pack, totally free of charge.

I finally had the chance to check these presets and they are awesome. A lot of really inspiring sounds! I especially enjoy how expressive the settings are velocity-wise. Thanks for sharing.

Some of us had no choice unfortunately. My first ever Mac shipped with Monterey pre-installed. The thing is a great machine but yeah, lots of software still needs updating unfortunately. Luckily, it's not my primary music production machine as there's some mission critical software for me that's not working on Monterey at all. On the other hand, the stuff that works runs incredibly.

I see nothing wrong with inquiring about native M1/Big Sur/Monterey support but patience is key considering how new these things are.

Gadget Fiend wrote: Mon Nov 01, 2021 10:11 pm My statement that your reply was unhelpful and bordering on obnoxious was in reference to your telling an NI forum member to get a standard res monitor if he wants to use NI plugins. That was you being a dick and not offering any helpful advice. You could have said, "What about getting an inexpensive 24" standard resolution monitor for less than $200 as a second monitor? You could put it off to the side of your main "Retina" display and use it to edit all your plugins that are not HiDPI compatible."

Regarding your KVR comment, telling someone that they shouldn't have installed Monterey on the first day it was released was just curt and unhelpful. i'm just wondering what you thought your reply would accomplish. And please don't tell that it was meant to educate the masses. That's unbelievably arrogant and not your job. In your reply, you could have said, "You know, you probably don't want to hear this. But if you need to use your incompatible plugins right way, then you will need to reinstall Big Sur. Or, you can wait for your plugins to be updated as unpalatable as that sounds. Let me know if you need any help or advice installing a fresh copy of Big Sur."

Can you see the difference in tone and helpfulness?
Holy crap dude, this level of behavior-policing is legit insane. Especially directed at EvilDragon of all people. I mean holy hell, have you even met BONES yet????

I really hope this gets updated to M1 and VST3.
As it turns out, the JX-8P Hi Strings were THE synth strings I've been looking for all these years.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Post

I hope so too ! There’s some silky and bouncy qualities in the jx-8p sound that deserve to be known ! And this soft synth is the best representative so far ! Thank you very much Martin, it’s a revelation !

it shure is a great synth :)

Meanwhile Roland decided to bring something new to the table: https://www.roland.com/us/products/jx-08/
With a 400 USD price tag this seems like a good deal.

Geez, the guy from Roland spent practically half the video demoing the stupid Boutique sequencer rather then playing patches from the JX-08 so we can hear what it sounds like.

Speaking of sound quality, I wonder whether the JX-08 is using the JX-8P Zenology engine. I hope not because that sounds really weak and uninspiring.
