The Swiss army knife
that your vocal tracks deserve

TB Sibalance uses advanced perceptual loudness and timbre models to detect excess sibilance.

Reduction of excess sibilance is done by spectral processing, resulting in a cleaner and more transparent result compared to conventional de-essers.

The perfect tool to remove harshness from vocals, podcasts, drum tracks and full mixes.

Wonder how the spectral mode compares to soothe2.

I was also wondering this. I've been holding off on buying any of these resonance/harshness suppressor plugins to see what ToneBoosters was gonna come up with and now we have the answer.

Clearly Jeroen, you were surveilling my browser history on GearSpace and were waiting to release this on my birthday to get my attention. Also, really sorry for all my other browser history you stumbled upon.

Unfortunately it's just a watered down version of V3. I use V3 for many years now as a deesser and
as a "mix de-harsher" and it's really great. So I had high expectations for V4 but I'll stay with Version 3.
Hopefully it will get closer to V3 over time.

There will more than likely be a lot of new features added over time. That's what's happened with all V4 plugins thus far. Jeroen tends to read the Facebook comments about new plugins and he'll almost certainly be reading this thread too.

I hope so. V3 is nearly perfect. My only FR would have been to extend the frequency range to the the lower midrange (in V3 it's from 2000Hz to 17Hz). Now in V4 its even higher (3000Hz to 19Hz).
Below you can see V3 and V4 in comparison.

So what is missing in V4 (from V3)?:
-Sidechain EQ
-"Delta" Listen (Hear what sibilance attenuates)
-Dry/Wet
-Knee
-Ratio
-Slope (sets the filter slope)
-Algo ("morphing" between broadband, singleband and spectral de-essing)
-Mid-Side (you can "morph" between -100 mid only, 0 stereo and +100 side only)
-Tonal (separate harmonic/Tonal and noise-like signals)
-the visual feedback is much better in V3

Actually, I’d prefer the new, simpler interface. Less controls is usually better in my book, as it speeds up the workflow.
But for mere vocal de-essing tasks, Fircomp is the thing to beat for me, followed by TrackDS. Never really got along with Sibalance.

Where SibilanceV3 really shines is on the mixbus. It flew under the radar all these years :ud:
