Plus they could always bring in other offers or revise terms later to make more keys available.

Hm, still a bit confused what I can choose if I go ultimate. Are AIRA instruments ( System 8 ) included as well, or just the legendary ones?

I am thinking about getting the JV5080 for nostalgic reasons, plus System 8. Already have multiple Jupiter emulations.

Not sure about the D50 and JD800 - aren't their sounds essentially included in the JV5080? (And isn't everything included in Zenology then? Yes, I know there are differences in the effects and architecture, but essentially, the sounds are there, no?!)

You mean the XV-5080? I owned one back in the 90's and it barely could touch the D-50 sonically IMO....otherwise I would have sold my D-50 back then once I got the 5080.

I just loaded up the XV-5080 and noticed the display looked garbled. If I go in the menu and choose a different bank and load a preset, then the display is OK. It only happens with this other smaller bank "Extra_XV-5080 Updates". I'm not sure where that one came from.

Did anyone else run into that issue?

That's the hardware side - but how about the plug ins?

Btw, I found this very nice article on the JV5080, seems to be quite knowledgeable.

From that one, I gather that buying the 1080 really makes no sense if there is a 5080. JD990 would be fab, but not there yet, and the JD800 doesn't seem to be a full emulation, really. So basically, I am still torn a bit about getting the D50 and the JV5080, or maybe System 8. Decisions, decisions.

I’ve got the System 8 and XV5080 lifetime keys through the Play4Life sub.

I think it’s probably just the Zenology Pro and software instruments like the Tera Guitar you can’t get via the sub.
One thing I’m not sure about is if you get all the preset packs for each lifetime key instrument or not.

There is some info related to that on this other page:

Does anyone know if my own Zenology patches created in Zenology Pro will be available if I go back to the Core subscription one year later?

I would most likely get the lifetime key for the Jupiter-8.

I probably don't need it, but is Zenology Pro also one of the included plugins for this? That would be a good deal as it is currently $229.
I'd really recommend getting the TAL J-8 for $80. It's way better sounding, and offers splits and layers. I don't think highly at all of the Roland version.

I don't believe Zenology Pro is included in this special. Unless the rules changed.

It isn't (I tried to get it in a previous choice and they told me it's out). But you don't loose much, IMO. It's just a generic ROMpler engine, as many others. And even if you choose it, the expansions would have to be bought separately. It's a cashing cow.

If anything, I would have gotten the Jupiter-8 as well. But, if the TAL version is better, then... I don't see much of a reason.

If Roland would finally release a JP-8k Cloud synth, this offer would be a no-brainer for me, for the lifetime license alone.

I preferred the Arturia emulations of the Juno and Jupiter in the V-Collection 8 to the TAL emulations, so I upgraded to VC8 this year.

I got a Pro subscription yesterday and spent several hours on testdriving the RC Juno-60 and Jupiter-8. Both sound very fantastic, and their GUIs are the best I've seen in any soft synths (along with the JD-800 GUI). I like them more than the Arturia emulations.

Post

I know you can copy one tone to another, but I'd like it if all of a tone's settings in the JD-800 could be saved as a tone preset.

Not software, but something related to recent discussions that may be of interest to some…

It looks/sounds pretty good, but only 4 voice polyphony?
