Tested it on a live drum recording. I typically use the PA SSL 9000J or 4000E for drums. In comparison, the VCS-1 is smoother sounding. EQ moves need to be a lot more drastic to get the same sound as the SSL. The compressors don't seem all that similar. Again, the VCS-1 is smoother in every way. I think it might be prefect on other instruments. But, for drums, it's quicker for me to dial in the 9000J. The SSL is snappier and a bit more aggressive sounding. In general, I use the SSL 9000J only on drums. I don't like it's sound on anything else. The SSL snap is it's strength and also it's weakness. It can make some things sound a bit hard or plasticy. VCS-1 doesn't have that sound. The VCS-1 might get used on some acoustic instruments. It's a nice sounding channel strip. Not a lot of character but it does sound smooth.thecontrolcentre wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 10:15 pmInterested to hear your conclusionstrmupstage wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:42 pm I'm going to want to test this against SSL 9000 J on my drum channels.
BTW - I absolutely HATE that it is using the F3 key that Nuendo uses to to open the mixer. This has to get changed. It makes it fairly unusable when working fast. Maybe it could be some parameter setting that could be changed? I have a lot of key commands I use while mixing. I don't want to change my template to use a single new plugin. Also, FAL is great. I own a bunch of their plugins. They all sound very good.

Please check the v1.0.1 build posted above. It doesn't react to the F3 key anymore (use the 'm' key instead).

I tested the plugin and here my feedback & wishlist:
FEEDBACK:
-I understand out of the history that on a console we never had a preset browser but what would be very helpful if it is possible to at least save the INIT preset when I load a plugin to suits my working flow. I like only to turn on parts (EQ, Filter, Comp,..) when I need it. As said it would be great to save 1 user Init preset when I load the plugin that this will be used.
WISHLIST:
-Actual values for some knobs special for Filter-Frequencies EQ-Frequencies and EQ-dB
-What would be a game changer if the plugin can open in the mixer view the section (e.g. all preamps) across the mixer view. At least for the Preamps & Filters in the overview of the mixer that it expand the view and collapse it again and only 1 instance can be expand (either Preamps or Filters). EQ & Dynamic would be special because it takes so many space. If a collapse down is to much afford because maybe additional most used slider can be added (see attached idea).
-For the Filters a 24dB/Slope. Use the same like the preamp for HQ (in the Plugin & Mixer view) just for 24dB/Slope. if it is not activated it shows 12 and when activated 24.
I have to say so far I am really impressed by this plugin! Well done - great job!

You can probably do that in your DAW, did you check? I think most DAWs nowadays allow for saving a default preset for a plugin. If not, I can understand the FR, as I will definitely save a default preset, some of the default values make no sense to me.Heartleader wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 5:06 am I tested the plugin and here my feedback & wishlist:

That's not a bad idea and it would make the mixer view actually usefull. At the moment I am really not sure what I would use that for.-What would be a game changer if the plugin can open in the mixer view the section (e.g. all preamps) across the mixer view. Hi fese,
Well, it makes sense if you use the VCS-1 on all tracks, or on all tracks that require processing - which, of course, might not be everybody's cup of tea. It may also be beneficial in hosts like GarageBand where there is no real or at least only a rather restricted mixer.
The mixer view is a completely optional feature, so you may safely ignore it and stick to the main GUI.
Best,
Ray

So here comes the official v1.0.1 Hotfix
Changelog
Best,
Ray
Changelog
- Fix intermittent crashes / disappearing EQ knobs
- Add modifier (Alt or CMD/Ctrl depending on format) to retain link group settings
- Add 'x' modifier so parameters can be edited freely while in linked mode
- Remove F3 short-cut (use 'm' key instead)
Best,
Ray

But this would be (at least for for me) the real game changer. Isolated Channel Strip Plugins are a lot on the market but only 1 actual with a mixer view. And by the way not only Garage Band also Ableton doesn't have a mixer view (beside options.txt show device with bugs).fuseaudiolabs wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 10:39 amHi fese,
