This reminds me of the Reaper threads when people confuse workflow and usability with skinning and appearance. I'm still selling off most of mine purely from the usability aspect - the sound quality is fine but I can cover functionality with other products that sound good and whose interaction design suits me better. Of course if there was no alternative with similar functionality I would stick with Melda and I have not seen a ring modulator as good as Melda's so Im keeping that one

Where do you find Modern 2? I don't see it in the list of styles on any of the three Melda plugins I own. I use the Titanium style with custom colors.

Only one of the three plugins I own has the new GUIs and I've already disabled "Custom GUI for Devices" on it.

To me the clear functional and visual choice between these two options is obvious:

But as long as the new GUIs can be disabled and some people like them then that counts as progress.
Ok, this is interesting for me. The second one (their 'generic' interface) looks better to me, and is cleaner, but the first one has better hierarchy and is more obvious where/what the features are (the filters for example, are much clearer), and not being in the generic 'grid' benefits finding the knob for a function easier on it.
Ideally, a more basic interface like the second but with the hierarchy of the first would be better.

Juse updating the few effects I own. GUI's are a big deal for me. Lets see who they are.

So it turns out there isn't much I own that uses the new GUI's. However, the GUI's for spectral delay are really cool. Yes some are a bit wacky but I think that's the point! It's made this delay useable to me anyway. GUI's for RatioMB are nice too. Overall a welcome update.

I played around with the colors a while back...These were inspired by Pigments, Fl Studio, and Bitwig Studio.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Pigments has an awesome GUI and colour scheme.

Bumping this thread, as I just discovered it :o

For me (an old Melda user) I find most of the new custom GUI's almost unbearable to look at. I find that many of them simply looks like toys which Melda-plugins are not. So in my opinion the new GUI's are also sending a message that may actually be a disservice to the quality of work behind them.

Anyhow for some of the plugins custom GUI's can give meaning and that is for me the Turbo plugins.

If I understand it correctly it's only possible to turn the custom GUIs on/off globally. But what if I want to turn them all for all plugins exept a few, like the MTurboComp and MTurboEQ - is this possible?

No worries..you can turn the custom GUI on/off for each plugin individually.

Thanks!
It is however somewhat misleading that it's in the Global System Settings. it says in the help menu that this is for changing for "all plugins on this computer". For us who have total-bundle it's a bit misleading, as you easily get the impression that it's global to all melda plugins on ones computer - I thought it was

I think what a lot of these conversations about the Melda GUIs miss is that the "unattractive" or "generic" appearance of their plugins is inextricably linked to the things that make them so unique.

Why do I like Melda stuff? For me, it's the 'completeness', the customisability, the modularity: the fact that they cram the most functionality and utilities and modulators into every plug so that it becomes a one-stop-shop for a particular type of processing. I contrast this with developers that are constantly putting out new plugins with deliberately limited, niche functionality so that they can bring something else out next month and you'll have to buy that, too.

But with that immense functionality and customisability comes graphical limitations. Consider how small the Melda team is and how many plugins they have to maintain. I love a nice-looking interface. But if Melda created unique, graphically-rich GUIs for each plug it would severely hamper their ability to keep all those plugins up to date, and it would likewise hamper their ability to make them all maximally adjustable in the way we have come to expect. You can make your own GUI in MXXX. Think about how unique that is!
