Correct. No update this year.
They are apparently bundling 11.5 with 12 and releasing it as 12 next year.

It will be Cubase Pro 11 with a free upgrade to 12 when released.JonSolo wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 8:28 pm I have a weird...or not so weird question. I have an un-activated copy of Cubase Pro...maybe 9, or could be 10. If I activate it, what version will it be?

Ah interesting, thanks. So it applies to anything from Cubase 6 onwards - anything unregistered if registered today will get you Cubase 12.kodnin wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:25 pmAlmost. I'm not sure what the first elicenser Cubase was, but if you bought it but never activated it, you'd get Cubase 11 today and 12 next year.

Okay, so if I register it today though, which licensing system is used? They aren't rolling out the new system until the new year, right?
I would rather stay on the USB key as it is if I can. And I've been holding off a previously bought upgrade since around 10. (Currently 10.5)

If you activate it today, it will be eLicenser, of course. Cubase 11 doesn't use any other licensing system. When it will be the time to upgrade to Cubase 12, you will likely need to change to the new license system, but you may still keep the Cubase 11 license in the USB key..BBFG# wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 8:49 am Okay, so if I register it today though, which licensing system is used? Workflow means less clicks to get more done, automating monotonous tasks like track freezing (currently one track can be done at a time) or improving controller integration and the QC's. It's not always about copying what the other Daws are doing...jancivil wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 12:58 am I find it rather strange to see people mention 'workflow' as though it's objective. You want Cubase to be Ableton, many of us _really_ do not.
SB catering to y'all has meant some broken workflow for me.
"Nobody asked for Squasher", well, I sure didn't, but this is exactly catering to the EDM way o' life.

Yes, we already discussed that.

It has been confirmed on the Cubase forum that if you activate an older Cubase version it will be upgraded to version 12 when it is released and will use the new on-line licensing system. Your old licence on the dongle will remain there and can be used until the dongle breaks. The licence on the dongle will become NFR and cannot be used to later update to a newer version.BBFG# wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 8:49 am Okay, so if I register it today though, which licensing system is used? Like me they are German and at least for us Germans it is typically considered bad writing style to repeat a word like that twice in the same sentence or in succeeding sentences, unless you consciously and deliberately do it for dramatic purposes.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 9:49 pmWhat they actually said (emphasis mine)....
What they did NOT say...."Cubase 12 will introduce native Apple silicon support to begin with. Please be aware that VST 2 is not supported on native Apple silicon, except when run in Rosetta 2 mode. So please make sure that you let the plug-in manufacturers still hesitating to release VST 3 versions know that it’s about time!"Now...maybe that's what they meant to say. It's easy to get a statement out there and have people parse the wording and come away with a different meaning. Please be aware that Cubase will not support VST2 on native Apple silicon, except when run in Rosetta 2 mode.
So we would rather not say "Cubase will introduce native Appple Silicon support. Cubase will not support VST 2 on Apple Silicon." (even the repetition of Apple Silicon should actually be avoided, if possible).
We however might say "Cubase will introduce native Applie Silicon support. Please note however that it won't support VST2 for this plattform, unless when run in Rosetta 2 mode", which is what I guess they basically aimed at with the way they put it.
(tbh I am not perfectly sure to what extent skillful written English may differ in this regard - I just applied typical German language style rules here)
So I think they just tried to write good language (and maybe failed somewhat) - I don't think there was any intention to shift the blame or something like that.

Well if one has to freeze tracks that's a workflow thing. I don't, haven't for years now. Workflow for me is VE Pro and Cubase is the most apt for it because its developer is the most accustomed to it, and the architecture isn't the set of pitfalls a number of DAWs present. Cubase is set up very well for MPE. Ableton is reportedly not a full implementation, unless it's changed recently. This is a workflow item. I have never used Quick Controls. Yes, that's a very valid criticism, it's terrible. But, I've not had any controller except one that required VST Control or QC present difficulties, and that's because the controller was not written properly for Cubase at the version I was using for CC (Korg) at all.kev2525 wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 11:41 amWorkflow means less clicks to get more done, automating monotonous tasks like track freezing (currently one track can be done at a time) or improving controller integration and the QC's. "Nobody asked for Squasher", well, I sure didn't, but this is exactly catering to the EDM way o' life.
So it's workflow to you, I'm blissfully unaware of it being a problem. Cubase fully supports MPE control, every aspect.
So it's subjective, I have no issues with it. Objectively one may say the freeze thing should be revisited, the workflow isn't mine so it's subjective to the people who need to.
So I have the same disposition I stated, I think it's odd to state subjective as objective.
I have workflow you don't. This is the point. It's not a very difficult point.
Also the fact that stuff was done in order to attract users from other DAWs has meant workflow breakage here is not up for debate. Double click to quickly open Note Expression, gone, it deletes the note now, and it's not requiring a fast double-click at all, so notes disappear here. That's workflow. That's muscle memory. That is more clicks.
I so don't do a whole lot of clicks because I set key commands for everything. Lot of people talking this way seem not to be able to do that. There is no good reason to have that problem, RTFM. The same dumb canard again, it's tiresome. And it's not the topic.

I am really hoping for one, but looks like there won't be any promotion this month. TGuitar is the instrument of the month on promotion, so guessing any new promotions, if at all, will be in December.Trancer wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 4:02 pm If I understand correctly, no promotion for Black Friday and / or end-of-year promotion?
Hope they surprise us.
