Does iLok Cloud require a driver to be installed?

I've heard that for iLok hardware protection you need to install a copy protection driver in order to use it. Is this also the case for iLok Cloud?

Do you have any software which uses cloud protection though? I don't have a single one... the only one I know is Pro Tools. If they even still do iLok cloud.
