This is not guaranteed to work though, since there is quite a few ways to organize patches. Some sound designers bake categories into the folder name, some into the patch name, or even use the patch comments section for this, yet others may misspell categories, etc.Richard
As I wrote in an edit above it would probably be a good idea if we all came together and worked on a standardized list of Category names since only so many can be viewed at one time.

That way going forward all third party banks can conform to this list and updating older banks will be more consistent.

Things like Bass and Lead are obvious but what are some other Categories that should be included in a standardized list ?

The problem is even for 'standard' types for every person who uses 'Bass' or 'Pad' another uses 'Basses' or 'Pads' or other variations and there are some like 'Pluck' or 'FX' that seem to be interpreted differently by different SD's (and some use 'Synth' - never been sure what that even means other than it was made by a synth, obviously).

Biome_Digital wrote: Sun Nov 14, 2021 2:19 pm TBH, it wasn't that difficult to update the sound banks. If I can do it, so can others. :)
I'm of the opinion that it would be better for the sound designers themselves to update their banks. That way they are standardized across all users and the patches will go where the designers think they should be categorized.

But like you said it's a very easy process that just takes a bit of time.

I think coming up with a standardized system now while the browser is new will help with organizing going forward. :tu:

And that makes my point perfectly. Standardize now otherwise you'll have duplicate categories like Bass and Basses and Pads and Pad.

The point is to avoid having to scroll through a bunch of categories. If we come up with a standardized list now it will prevent or lessen the need to scroll.

Edit: we cross posted...... :)

Agreed, and a "default Author" or similar for new presets would make things even easier I guess.

guys i just rechecked, there should be a light or whatever which shows what channels are used, i mean you have to click through all 8 to know what is used and what not :/ look at other synths which has a small graphic/light etc.

I was careful to use Dunes folder names for this exact reason. No one wants folders called, Sequence, Sequences, and SEQ.

No they only light up when they are soloed. The number at the left , 4 in this case is the number of active voices.

They always go in order. If you have 4 as the AMT then the first 4 voices are active.

Lights on the top are soloed. The one that is lit up on the bottom row is the voice that is being edited. Light on the All button mean All voices are being edited at the same time.

In this example 5 voices are active (the first five of course) and voices 1,3, and 4 are soloed. Voice 3 is the one that is being edited.

You can also use the Solo buttons to Mute. Light up all 5 voices and then just turn off the light for the voice(s) you want to mute.

@Richard: the new Genetics feature is very good. Congratulations, great work!

I have a question regarding the technical process. Would it be hard to implement an additional advanced option which allows us to select and lock the parameters we want to get randomized?
And what I am missing is a way to "watch" Genetics in action. I get that it must be located in the browser tab to select the sound categories.
But I would also like to be able to see and find the altered parameters immediately to quickly edit or correct them if I don´t like the result. In the current state, we have to go back and forth and search everything to find what has been changed. Or if this is too complex to implement, maybe a button which generates a document export with all the changes made.

Just a few ideas but nothing too important..
Thanks again for the great update!

True randomiser could also go with this.

Many Thanks i need to use Dune again more often, still somehow i would like to see active layers more visible, would be cool.

You want "free running", or maybe legato, or something. As far as I can see there isn't any option for this. I would welcome these options too.

ahh yes exactly! this would be awesome cause i got now a patch i wanted to have the waveform transformed the WHOLE melody when it is played, has some wicked modulation sound but it always retriggers :/

Generally speaking, use Loop mode for gated/rhythmic sounds that are not tied to Note On's, but to the host tempo/ppq.

If you have an arpeggiator enabled in your patch and want to prevent MSEGs from constantly retriggering all the time, use "Key On" mode instead of the default "Note On".
