I'm going to wait and see!

Mostly I don't care really if it is with dongle or not. So mostly I'm staying with Cubase, but if they go "only" subscription, in that time I will switch!
The same goes to Studio One and if in worst scenario, the two are going subscription only, then I might use Cakewalk again or just buy a mini mac and use Logic :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I'm staying with Cubase. I belong to minority who prefer a dongle but the new system will not do much difference to me. I work remotely so I need constant fast internet connection anyway.
I just hope that their servers or app to connect to their servers will not be "an unofficial public beta" for a few years (common problem of a modern software). But I'll keep dongle and C11 just in case.
My only real alternative to Cubase would be Logic but then I would have to invest into Apple and if I would like to get similar specs to my current PC I would have to put €10k which is a joke.

Also unsubscribed to this thread because of lack of interest besides carrots… what’s up doc?

I'm glad Cubase is getting with the times. Seems like a decent way to do it. Kinda sad that I will have to toss 2 dongles in the trash but worth it.

Waiting and seeing. I've always been perfectly happy with the dongle and still am even though I now use a laptop. TBH I'd prefer they stay with it. I strongly suspect whatever new security they use is going to be a PITA to me. I'll be happy using 10.5 for the next few years - I doubt I would upgrade to 11 or 12 anyway, so it's mostly irrelevant to me unless I lose or break my dongle - which I've never done in 32 years. There's no reason I'm going to suddenly treat my dongle lightly - more reason to be extremely careful with it, in fact. I had the last dongle for over 15 years, I can do the same with this one.

Will be a shame when the internet goes out for more than 30 days during the apocalypse (or at least the next (hot) civil war...). But overall I'm happy about it.

Why would you trash the dongles?
The licenses that are on there now will work until something happens to break the dongles.

Post

How about an option “I don’t ****ing care what licensing method my DAW uses because it has nothing to do with how I make music in it” ?

Post

Guess I spoke too soon about trashing the dongles.
I just installed Windows 11 and my Cubase stuff wouldn't run until I used the 'maintenance' function in the elicenser as an administrator.
It's not the first time that's happened either.

When they take the servers down, that won't be possible anymore, and the dongles will be useless then.

You can take Nuendo from my cold dead hands. :)

These polls will only give you an idea of the kvr users, not necessarily global attitudes. So I hope you are keeping that in mind and just making this for fun, not to argue your point one way or the other seriously.

And it is biased to leaving Cubase due to how all the choices are worded. There isn't even an option for 'I'm staying even if I don't like the new auth system' unless that's 'Carrots'

I selected Carrots just because it was fun.

Don't mention it. It's not allowed on the internet. You're either pissed off, or a fanboi. Black or white. There's nothing inbetween.

They made it clear a lot of times now that the eLicenser servers will continue to run for older products. How long, I don't think that even Steinberg will be able to tell you. Probably as long as the grumpy old farts with their 10 year old versions will keep using them.
