I logged into my US amazon account and there is no heat sink version of the 500GB model Samsung pro. I read that the 500GB does not need a heat sink?

As I understand, they all do...
The controller gets too hot.

The Prime MB has two M.2 heatsinks, but you are going to use three ssds.

The big noctua heatsink along with all ssds and the fractal design case should keep things dead quiet unless you buy some crazy loud GPU or PSU. I have the same basic stuff, but older generations and the computer is the most quiet thing in the building.

I do not use MS Office, but the free https://www.libreoffice.org/
I do not use any AV, but Windows have built-in AV.
To choose one I would look into some tests
https://www.av-comparatives.org/latest-tests/
But take into consideration the performance as most important

I received a samsung pro 980 SSD 500GB by accident...so I might as well use it if possible.
I didn't realize I could use a different heat sink, would either of these do the trick?
Thermalright M.2 Heatsink Cooler, NVMe M.2 2280 SSD Aluminum Heat Sinks with Silicone Thermal Pad for PC
M.2 2280 PRO SSD NVME PCIE Heatsink Cooler Aluminum with Silicone Thermal Pad; Built in 8mm heatpipe

I just realized that I have well over 4TB of sample libraries over a few external HDs, so I was looking at other SSD, would something like this work, or is the qualities not comparable to other models?

I went with this based on stats posted earlier in the thread indicating that the fan does not engage below a certain watt, meaning it would be quieter and more efficient despite being a higher watt than required. However, I really don't know, I am going on what others are suggesting, and perhaps I will need to add a graphics card at some point, which may change the requirements. What do you think?T-CM11 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 3:07 pm850W without a high end graphics card = OVERKILLwilliam lawes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:54 am Corsair CP-9020180-NA RMX Series RM850x 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
