what in the architecture would make it better under zenology than under acb?Chrisk-K wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 9:38 pmGiven the architecture of the JX series, I'm not sure if the ACB would improve the sound quality.rod_zero wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 1:31 am The JX08 is zenology based, no acb, that's why the high voice count
I much prefer the ACB versions of the Juno and Jupiter to their Zenology counterparts. However, the Zenology JX model sounds as good as, if not better than, the ACB JX.

Hey, friends. Brian from Roland Cloud here. For all of the D-50 fans out there, we have just released D-50 DARK by Inhalt. Check it out today!
Delve into the gloomier sonics of the 1980s with this throwback collection of patches by revered musician and sound designer INHALT. Both maudlin and romantic, these gated percussion sounds, evolving pads, and glimmering keys utilize the D-50’s famously diverse capabilities to create dark synth-pop landscapes.

I wanted the JX-08, but then read here that it's based on the Zenology version, so I thought I'd compare the real JX-8P to the Zen version, and now I'm ok with not getting the JX-08:

That sounds like they didn't do a great job recreating the presets rather then an issue with Zen.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:36 am I wanted the JX-08, but then read here that it's based on the Zenology version, so I thought I'd compare the real JX-8P to the Zen version, and now I'm ok with not getting the JX-08:

To me it seems more a filter problem. The filter simply doesn't sound the same.cyberheater wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 4:20 pmThat sounds like they didn't do a great job recreating the presets rather then an issue with Zen.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:36 am I wanted the JX-08, but then read here that it's based on the Zenology version, so I thought I'd compare the real JX-8P to the Zen version, and now I'm ok with not getting the JX-08:

Well the acb Jx3P and the abm Jx8P are 2 different synths both in the real world and as a vst so they can't be compared.Chrisk-K wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 9:38 pmGiven the architecture of the JX series, I'm not sure if the ACB would improve the sound quality.rod_zero wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 1:31 am The JX08 is zenology based, no acb, that's why the high voice count

I hope someone does a deep dive between the hardware and software versions soon. It would be good to hear.fmr wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:57 pmTo me it seems more a filter problem. Anyone, still using Windows 7, may be interested to know the recent JD-800 VST plugin appears to work ok with Windows 7. It seems the "Windows 10 only" limitation is being introduced by the Roland Cloud Manager, not the software itself.
You'll need to locate the relevant "PluginSetup.msi" setup file (probably via a Windows 10 install). It's presently 26MB, and you'll know you have the correct one by right-clicking, selecting file properties, and then checking under the "Details" tab.

I have made over 30 presets so far for the JD-800.
If anyone wants to check those out I can upload them.
EDIT: I just noticed when making a preset with ranges in it that they are labelled incorrectly: (Tone B twice). I reported it to Roland.

Do you mean a comparison between the original JX-8P and the Zencore VST/AU plugin or between the JX-08 Boutique and the original JX-8P?cyberheater wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 11:01 pm I hope someone does a deep dive between the hardware and software versions soon. It would be good to hear.
The Boutique JX-08 and the Zencore JX-8P plugin should sound identical. They're both based on the same synth model.

That's already the 2nd typo in the JD-800 plugin ("Renane" button in the patch window being the other). Of course they are not showstoppers, and I'm sure they will be fixed, and I think Roland Cloud has already received more than enough bashing... but still, come on now, how can you manage to include two typos in a synth plugin that doesn't really contain _that_ much text?Examigan wrote: Sat Nov 13, 2021 4:28 pm EDIT: I just noticed when making a preset with ranges in it that they are labelled incorrectly: (Tone B twice). Wow, the real JX-8P sounds a lot better than the Zencore JX-8P. I'm sticking with my MKS-70.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:36 am I wanted the JX-08, but then read here that it's based on the Zenology version, so I thought I'd compare the real JX-8P to the Zen version, and now I'm ok with not getting the JX-08:

I think I will be happy with everything Zencore from now on. I only wish Roland to be more clear about what models they are using. This mystery attitude does not do them any good.
