High quality reverb for Super 6 synth?

After all that I got Seventh Heaven installed, Adaptiverb too. There was two program files/common files folder on my Windows for some reason (one is x84 I think) but just goes to show the total faf involved. VSTs should be a one click install, there should be a standard like midi. The installer recognises your DAW and install the right files to the right places every time.

In the end the reverb's sounded naff on the Super 6 I understand why it does include one on the hardware. Every time I bypassed the reverb it instantly sounded 1000 times nicer. The Super 6 is basically two voices for each note played, both independent doing their thing in the stereo field. A reverb just muddies this.

It won't help that many reverbs are mono in, stereo out. If you're feeding a stereo signal it's going to mess it up by treating it as mono and converting back to stereo. For "big" reverb Eventide Blackhole would be the obvious suggestion to try, and their SP2016 (Stereo Room etc) for something more dialed back.

personaly i find a reverb on a synth is a waste of dsp ressource... i like to process the sound first / dry. and if the synth sound great without reverb i t s even less needed for selling it, better put more effort on good dry sound than developping fx imo, unless they can be modulated with the synth modulators i don t care about fx on synth

You'd be well annoyed by synths that use FX as part of the synthesis method. Like Physical modelling synths that use resonators and IRs to generate sounds.

this i think i can enjoy i should try.. just like in synth like massive X when fx are routable and modulabe it open lot of possiblity , but just some fx at the output i don t like much ,often i have better third party fx.

in many synths you dont hear the synth acutally in demo.. you hear the fx.. like on virus ect.. they are their to sell the synth cause if you bypass..sometimes you laught or cry haha synth with no fx you can t cheat

Well.. if you ever had ANY software from Steinberg installed, it changes the VST path in the registry, which will be why your plugins are installed there

Yesterday after the reinstallation of Cubase, it has installed its own plugins in Program Files/Vstplugins. Even that there is a 'proper one in the Steinberg folder. Steinberg Installation Assistant act against its own master!

@rubez try Relab Sonsig (it has a BF promo sale right now $79). I tried it yesterday with Odyssey and Cobalt8 and it instantly put me in a productive, creative mood. You know, when you play and the sound just makes you feel good. Playing was way more fun than with any other plugin that I have and it's on par with the Skylar Reverb pedal which costs way more than Sonsig.

I use Eventide H9 Max and Valhalla reverbs with my Super 6. No complaints.

Blows my mind VSTs are still so user unfriendly as they were 20+ years ago.

Blows my mind that in 2021 a $3000+ hardware synth doesn't have a built in reverb and would require someone to spend up to another $330 to add one......

In case you didn't know the Super 6 is a homage to vintage synths which didn't come with reverbs. It's nothing to do with money. Some synths are about the raw sound and this one doesn't need to hide behind a reverb.

This would be like expecting an expensive guitar to come with a distortion.

For some reason, all synths except maybe Peak have embarrassingly bad reverbs so probably for the best.

You know what blows MY mind?

In most cases, I'm perfectly fine with a 10+ years old freeware reverb plugins...

I am looking for a high quality software reverb specifically for my Super 6 which doesn't have an on board one.

I want to preserve the details of the Super 6 as it sounds really good and has lot of very small and subtle details and stereo "binaural" movement.

My tracks will be very sparse ambient pads so the reverb will be front and centre.

Budget is around £250 probably, hopefully there will be black friday sales.

What would you suggest?

For sparse ambient go for NI's raum or Valhalla's Shimmer. If you want some echo too UVI's Relayer has a bazillian options...

Sonsig is indeed a really good synth verb. The 'fantasy' section of the stock presets has stuff that rivals or bests shimmer, blackhole and the likes for massive blade runner spaces. The sound is rich and smooth and can be very very huge, but it's always musical and I find it easy to mix with other elements (which I can't say for a lot of others).
