I am looking for a sample Library to replace my old workstation plugins like Hypersonic / Purity.
one of my problems is that a lot of new sample libraries seem to sound very roomy and "wet", whereas Hypersonic and Purity sound quiet clean and dry, but a bit dated.
Is there any general Library you can recommend me that has a more hifi sound?

The closest to a modern equivalent of a GM workstation is probably Omnisphere. But that's not really that deep-sampled when it comes to orchestral sounds, jazz horns etc.
On the other hand, it's easy to spend thousands of dollars on this kind of stuff, so maybe let me ask this... how big is your budget, and what do you need the most detailed sounds for - strings, orchestral horns, metal, jazz?

the entire VSL Vienna Instrument line is recorded on "The Dry Stage", there is no room sound in them.
The good libraries cost more than the entry level, but most of it is available these days individually.
Orchestra Tools can be wet or dry, in both the Kontakt and SINE versions there's 'close' (any of these can be the only one loaded), a Decca tree, a surround, and some kind of two cardioid cfg. to choose from. Personally I think that (the Teldex room) is much better for orchestral than a reverb send kind of thing. I like to output the roomier ones separately. BUT, what I'm giving MIR Pro is the dry close mic. I don't like the Spitfire wetness for my music at all for example (they love mud, or did at the time). To me any _good_ library that does room sound does that paradigm.

Halion Sonic/HAlion 6 are the successors to Hypersonic and theyre quite good but expensive if you also want to get the expansions. Wizoo left Steinberg and joined Pro Tools under a new name AIR, they released Xpand which is very similar to Hypersonic using the same samples for the patches and can be bought dirt cheap these days.

I would go to HALion Sonic. They are currently on sale at 50%. As the previous poster already said, HALion Sonic is the successor of Hypersonic (and goes way ahead of it). It's a much better deal than Omnisphere, IMO.~, considering what you're looking for.

You can also aim at the free market. By downloading Native Instrument Komplete Start, Sampletank custom shop, and Magix independence free, you end up with a good amount of instruments, plus many others that you can find on youtube with a "free vst" search.
