Hi,
Does anyone know of a good selection of classic 80's Simmons drum kits for NI Battery or Steinberg's Groove Agent?
I bought a Simmons-style drum plugin called "Hex" from Oblivion Sound Lab recently. It's really good. It's all synth-based with no samples. But there are only 8 "instruments" (drum hits) per patch/kit. Plus, I'm not really in the mood to program a bunch of synthetic drum hits. I'd rather have several 5 octave Battery or Groove Agent sample-based drum kits with all manner of Simmons drum sounds.
Oh, incidentally, I checked out VSDS-X from Aly James Lab. This Simmons VSTi looks very cool. But after reading the developer's Facebook page post, I don't think he has the time to update his Simmons plugin (to, for instance, create an all-new native Apple M1 version of his drum synthesizer).
Finally, I own Microtonic which is awesome (freaking awesome). However, it just doesn't totally nail that Simmons sound.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for. I only know of SonicCouture's Electro Acoustic drums which have that drum. Supposed to be really good.

Thanks for the heads up. This Sonic Couture library is pretty cool. But it seems more about recording the drum machines sounds in unusual ways and spaces. I just want those unadorned classic Simmons drum sounds that were used by everyone in the 80's including Duran Duran and The Cars.darkogav wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 2:16 pm Not sure if this is what you are looking for. You might want to check out Wave Alchemy’s selection of high quality samples and instruments. You can also use the older Battery 3 kits. Just make sure the pack you’re interested in includes that format.
