I have been a long time fan of these guys from the great state of Pennsylvania since their debut release in 1991.

Although they are usually associated in Prog music circles I find their music to be anything but your typical Prog type music.

Yes, odd time meters abound but almost in a jazz-type of way.
If anything they remind me of Gentle Giant stuff.

Anyway, while searching on their website I discovered they have finally released a DVD of a concert they performed in May 2003 at the Sellersville theatre in Pa.

Excellent video and the audio mix is superb plus one disc has footage from the early days along with interviews.
What a great find this was for me, after wanting to see them perform for so many years to finally be able to see and hear them live is a real joy especially since the original lineup had broken up for 7 years.

Me Happy. :D

Echolyn. Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long long time. A long long time. :D

I played at a festival where they played once. Progfest 1994. I met them and picked up one of their records. I haven't listened to it since but I thought it was good.

The person I was playing with was Kevin Gilbert. He was also a Gentle Giant fan and there is a tribute record out there that he's on where he does an acapella fugue inspired by Gentle Giant. I think it's on Magna Carta records but I am not sure. But, in case you are interested check it out. Or from here www.kevingilbert.com

Hi Squids, thanks for responding.
I think Suffocating the Bloom was my favorite(their second cd after being picked up by Sony).
This DVD concert is amazing, their musical expertise is beyond words and dare I say not a mellotron in sight.
I would HIGHLY recommend it to fans of the genre although they are in a leaque all their own.

I recently picked up another DVD you may know about and that is Lex Rex live by GlassHammer, another excellent concert to see and hear.

How come the Progfest people never video this stuff?
Licensing probably,huh?
I was able to obtain a copy of Progfest 97 with LeOrme,John Wetton,Spocks Beard,FlowerKings,Arena and haven't seen any other years available.
Would love to have a copy with you playing.
That was the year you did Genesis right?

Haven't been to the gilbert sight lately or the MagnaCarta site since Magellan left for Inside/Out records but will jump over there later.
Thanks,
rick
