Ha! Between my post and yours, I actually had downloaded MuLab to try it out. Thanks for the suggestion - I've now downloaded MUX too and had a look. It's certainly got the idea of what I want, but two things are holding me back from getting it:
- No support for VST3
- Undo doesn't seem to work perfectly, either in MUX within Reaper, or in MuLab. If I turn a knob in a VST I need to be able to undo it. This seems to be a hard thing for hosts to get right but it is fundamental to me on account of my, um, workflow.

I guess it's not a big deal. Reaper can technically do any of the stuff I want, it just doesn't make it "fun".

You are right, treeheated: VST3-support in MuLab/Mux has been requested quite often but is not realised yet. For now the programmer focusses on the new version:
1) You will be able to run the DAW within another DAW just like a synth
2) Live matrix
Once that runs solidly, we (maybe) get VST3.

Undo on VST-parameter-changes? I never missed that ... !
And if I imagine: Change a parameter, a note, a parameter ... then undo .. guess that might be confusing.

This allows you to run vst3 in VST2 hosts

WARNING! Infectious tune - Play at your own risk! :D

I wanted to create something a bit more uplifting and jolly this time, but for ages it seemed like everything I tried came out melancholy. So I tried much harder and finally came up with this. I may have overcompensated a bit and made it over the top happy! See what you think :)

As usual, a track made in the last weekend.

The original Kawai K1 synth may sound cheesy by today's standard, but this is the real sound of an era. People usually associate 80's synth music with instruments like Roland Jupiter-8 or Oberheim OB-X, but lo-fi samplers and early digital workstations are equally important part of the sound. I guess that this emulation sounds as realistic as possible because the original hardware is 100% digital. Sometimes, instruments like this can spark inspiration just like an expensive high quality emulation from a "respected" brand. The only thing that slightly bothers me is the interface. I would prefered more modern and clear interface, with all the parts and their parameters visible on one screen for example. As for the sound and usability, it will definitely find it's place in my future projects.

22 instances of K1v were used to create a track. All sounds from init patch. Most of the sounds are created with PCM waves. Some of them stacked with synthesized waves and omnibus loops. As it was allowed to use some extreme effects, I made some cheesy guitar-like sounds. Every instrument contains one instance of K1v, including drums.

Produced in FL Studio 20.8.

Here my contribution this month ...

The work names of my tracks were from K1 to K5 ...
... I had fun, but I wasn't really satisfied with any :( so I decided to give up ...
.
.
.
... on the other hand, why do all the work if nothing comes out of it?
So I decided to go with K2 and hurriedly finished a track. :wheee:

Hi all :D - so here is my entry for this month,

https://soundcloud.com/impedancemusic/a ... d7db64b34e

a shameless mid to end 1980s Synthpopwave stuff thing with 23 instances of K1v. At first i had a pretty hard time to get any idea of what to do with K1v. Something about it was uninspiring - Eventhough some of the sounds reminded me of my grandfathers Casio CTK-500, which was kind of nostalgic for me. And i think there was the problem: I tried to replicate the Casios sounds from memory [since the keyboard is long gone] and i hit one dead end after the other. So i gave up for some weeks and surprisingly this happened in a session of three days xD Sometimes you can´t force creativity. Or in my case, i couldn´t force anything to come up with a good name for my track, so last second i named it after a picture that my web browser decided to show me - My creativity is at its peak, when it comes to naming tracks, because they are all an absolut disaster :hihi:

And now technical stuff:
DAW: FL Studio 20.8.4
Instances of K1v: 23

Hey all, been a little while, nice to join you again 😊
My track
https://soundcloud.com/zarf/zarf-2121?s ... 68482c1808
26 instances of kv1 in Ableton.
All Ableton Fx except Airwindows toTape, tube, toVinyl.
Eqs and compressors everywhere, about 5 hybrid reverbs, some multiband compressors, drum bus, bit of chorus on the 'clav' sound, some auto filter on a couple of the spacey sounds, lots of delay here and there, dynamic tube.
I used lots more Fx than I would usually judge acceptable for OSC, inluding Ableton's vinyl distortion and drum bus pushed hard.
And the 'repitch' on the delay at the end with tempo modulation. Oh and some spectral thing on the 'toms' - I just messed around and enjoyed the freedom to not worry about overdoing the fx for an OSC change. Good fun, great idea for a rule variation.
Good luck everyone :tu:

i was close to giving up on this one, none of my ideas seemed to work... but i managed to hold the streak in the end, and this now marks my 12th consecutive entry and one year anniversary!

https://soundcloud.com/mikaela-groendah ... e-absolute

vcv rack 2 was released just earlier today, and since i'm easily distracted and i didn't like what i had so far anyways i decided to start over and used the vcv host module to load 8 instances of k1v. everything worked like a dream except for the recorder module which was nowhere to be found, so i ended up recording the output to audacity instead.

other vcv modules used (those who affect audio, i assume sequencers and utilities and such are not relevant here): ml freeverb, vult debriatus, vcv delay, bogaudio mix8x
