Hello everybody.

Is there any product in the market that can take a multi channel midi file and convert each track to single channel midi files? If a midi file has 6 instruments in 6 tracks, it must output 6 midi files each corresponding to one of the tracks.

Thank you for any information.
Regards.

Most DAWs should be able to do this, i.e. you have one track playing that multi-channel MIDI file and others recording separate channels. Then you end up with couple MIDI clips each including different channel.

Some DAWs - I'd imagine Reaper definitely, Cubase probably - would have a feature that removes everything else than a specified MIDI channel from a clip.

when you drag the clip into Reaper it will ask if you want it split into different tracks across multiple channels, or not

Cubase, https://steinberg.help/cubase_pro/v11/e ... art_r.html

Menu/MIDI/Dissolve Parts ...
Separate Channels
Separates MIDI events according to their channel. This is useful for MIDI parts on MIDI channel Any that contain events on different MIDI channels.

I have just dragged a midi file into Cubase and Studio One and both work fine in splitting the the midi file up into different tracks. But no need to spend money on those, just download Cakewalk Sonar. Its free and will do the job nicely.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, all DAWs do split midi files to tracks.
If using a DAW, requires to export the tracks back to midi and is time consuming.
I require to export straight to individual midi files.
(Too many midi files)
