cheers man, that sounds spot on! i'll be in touchSpe3D wrote:Ok! most of 1 and 1 don't offer 90 GIGs, (have not checked the US) they are normally around 30-50 Gigs and charge silly money if you go over it. I also notice they dont update the stats for four or more days if you do get a big bandwidth drain, and then wham!detfella wrote:just checked out your site Spe3d, do you go higher than 90GB bw a month for a package? i might be interested in swapping from oneandone![]()
My servers - if you get to the limit you get a message by email at 80% - when you hit the limit the package shuts down. so no nasty bandwidth bills.of course you can get bolt on bandwidth if needed, you would just let me know and I would sort something out.
I can do bigger - the biggest package at the moment is up to 500 Gigs.
Send me an email with expected need and I will give you a cost effective package quote - maybe a 150 gig package or something like that?
Best regards,
Spe3d

Not to detract from Spe3ds thing he's got going on here, but I've had no probs with oneandone - other than the excess bandwidth charges - which rarely happen for me and generally occur when we're transferring and swapping wavs around the world.
But there's a part of me that likes to know my site keeps up and running even if I exceed my allocation.
I actually wouldn't want my site to become unusable for even a day, so I pay. It's never a great ammount anyway. Except that one time...
And they're generally cheaper than many I've looked at.
30mb of space just wouldn't cut it for me personally either - I get that with my ISP account and it soon became nowhere near enough. It's only about 6 tunes, if they're all under 5 minutes.
But let's face it - it doesn't matter what somebody says they like around this place, there's always someone ready to disagree.

For FTP you might want to check out the totally free Filezilla client, which works great:vtx wrote:Okay I dropped over there,,looks cool,I picked up the free page builder,,but that smartftp, it looks like a 30 day thing according to the home page.
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/
(or you could of course try good ol' fashioned command-line FTP

I will be more than happy to help.

oneandone froze my account when i exceeded my bw. i got a notice email to say please update payment details which i did. 1 week later, my site is down, emails down and i cant even get into administration. i emailed to find out why and turns out they hadnt taken my payment and i had to update my account again...bah
in the end i rang them up to sort it out, came back online in 2 hrs which was ok. ive asked them to make it easier to monitor bandwidth usage, cpanel (installed with ukwebsolutions host) makes it very easy to see bw usage!
edit: pleased to see u use cpanel Spe3d

The ,,,,,,,, in my last post was due to an error in my nervous system.
I wish they were white shark teeth and I could give one out to each of you.
However, please take them as 8 thumbs up for everyone's posts.
You've all really helped me out a lot.
Sorry I took so long to respond. Back to the Future was on TV.
Lea Thompson (in 1985) still destroys me, unbelievable.
She's like what, 50 now?
ummm, also, there is a lot of info to compare.
The combination of Lea Thompson (in 1985) and all the web hosting info is making my brain hurt.
I suspect I'll have more questions, or at the very least I'll let everyone know what my decision was and why, but I need to go in to sleep mode fo a while.
once again, I wish those were sharks teeth. (thanx)

Can’t say I like the choice of wording here, looking forward to the clarification of ‘sharks teeth’ I am in the UK and Shark is not a good word to use for sure.
