So I got a brand new Android phone thinking I could run Cubasis. But...OH NO.
It turns out Cubasis only likes certain processors that run arm64-v8a instruction sets.
It turns out my phone runs armeabi-v7a and Cubasis will not install. I am VERY frustrated. Had Steinberg made Cubasis for Androids requirements more clear I might have chosen a different device. Could someone PLEASE tell me what phones and tablets are to Cubasis' liking???

Does spell out the hardware requirements- how much clearer should they have been?

Thanks for the sarcastic reply. Steinberg support already informed me of the
specs it requires.

The problem is that many droid devices do not reveal anything more than
the OS version they are running. I need to know what specific devices use
the proper CPU/Chipset. Steinberg was of no more help than you. I was merely
hoping that someone here was actually successfully running Cubasis Android and
what SPECIFIC device they were running it on.

It appears I'm wasting my time with these toys. I may as well just stick with a real
laptop and a real DAW.

Usually, it shows when your device is not capable of running the app. You either don't get it shown at all in Play Store, or, when you're viewing the Play Store with your web browser, and you're logged in with Google, and set up your device with your Google account (obviously), you get a message saying that the app is not compatible with your device.

Didn't it show that for you?

What's your phone, BTW? ARM v7 seems ancient.

No it did NOT show that for me. It showed the app AND an install button. It even allowed me to initiate the install. It went through the install process and only at the end did I get an "install failed" message. I'm not a moron or inexperienced with android devices. I've used Android tabs for years.

As I already stated in my OP, this is a BRAND NEW phone. And it's running Android 10.
Steinberg's own press release claims that Cubasis 3 can run on OS 8 thru 10. Guess I'm just a dumbass for not initially reading the fine print.

It is a Samsung AO2S. It's not ANCIENT. It's simply underpowered. I really don't know why I bother asking questions at KVR. Thanks for yet another snarky facetious response.

I'm outta here.

Why so touchy? The phone might not be ancient, but, it's a low spec devices, with an ancient SoC (the Snapdragon 450 in it is from 2017). Which explains why it's not compatible with Cubasis.

I don't mean to disrespect you, just saying how things are, and why you don't have to be disgusted that Cubasis won't run on that phone.

"ARM v7 seems ancient."

Just responding to your mistaken assumption. As I said in my initial post,
it is a brand new phone. Several posts later I acknowledged that is was
underpowered and I should have done my homework better. So I already
put my tail between my legs. As I also said earlier, I was obviously mistaken
to even post this question to the audio elite of KVR. I got what I deserved.
But.....please don't rub your dog doo snow cone in my eye again.

But why am I'm even wasting my breath? Please don't bother responding. I'm
REALLY done here now.

May The Krampus Be With You!

Cheers......

I know this will probably be even less welcome than the previous posts regarding CPUs or whatever, but please, hear me out..

Buy an iPad. Yes, seriously. Even if you are somewhat opposed to Apple as a company, or some of the less than stellar aspects of iOS.

They really are the best thing you can possibly buy for making music, recording, etc., for the money. So. Many. Incredible. Apps. Most of them cheap as can be. Android options pale in comparison.

I was going to write something very similar.
I was also a while ago buying and returning most of the DAW type apps for Android that exist. At that time there was no version of Cubasis except for iOS.
Suddenly a co-worker showed up one day with an ipad and I didn't even think about it.
To this day the best thing I've seen for making music with mobile devices.

I realize the logic of the last two responses. BUT....Apple products are NOT an option.
I don't own an "i" anything nor will I ever. I'm just going to stick with my HP Mini 5103
for mobile recordings. It's runs a real OS and real programs instead of fiddly apps.
It's not much bigger than an iPad and not only can I run any DAW I choose but also VST's.

I'm done with this phone/tablet nonsense....at least until they get powerful enough to
run real DAWS and plugins. For those that meant well, thanks for the suggestions. :D
