You can record audio in renoise perfectly fine .
Just use the audio editor and record , either while the song is playing or not .
Adjust your sample to taste, trim , cut etc .
Insert note on , enable autoseek , done .
People are too obsessed with looking at fancy coloured waveforms etc .
Renoise approach is just like using an old skool hw sampler .

you could record audio in reason that way before version 6
but its a lot lot more easier now
