And why would I use Kong in another DAW in that convoluted way? Or Redrum? Why shouldn't I simply use Heartbeat, Superior Drummer, Battery 4, yadda yadda instead?
Because u can wire them all.together into one.instrument and save your patches
The possibilities are endless
Besides like I said if they made some good libraries then it would be like kontakt all your libarys sitting there , then u can add spiders to wire them to different eqs and mix them etc and fit them into one combinator bam , I dunno how you can do that with two kontakt libraries if u can it's way more difficult

Exactly - that would be the tinkering I mentioned before - that's exactly my point. ;-)

And for tinkering, there is e.g. Reaktor for 200 bucks, with a huuuge high quality library, waaaaaaaay more posssibilities, its own high-level modular environment (Blocks), yadda yadda - so why shell out a lot more for Reason - which is a joke in comparison when it comes to that - if this is what you want?

See? The only thing Reason is really any good at is being a streamlined DAW with its own nice little features you don't find anywhere else...

Nope, they aren't - far from it. In Reaktor they (almost) are.
"Preamps have literally one job: when you turn up the gain, it gets louder." Jamcat, talking about presmp-emulation plugins.

And new instruments
I really think it should be an instrument container
The problem is the rack extensions on their own are not beating kontakt
You need some better string library's and piano library's and organic things like spitfire or orchestral tools or native instruments if u wanna be a serious instrument container
The refills and rack extensions are ok and enough but serious producers are not gonna pick that over omnisphere or kontakt
Unless some serious library's emerge
The rack extensions are nice but there's only so many synthsnor sub par romplers u can have
They need to expand that world to make it compete
They need a big name on board
Not rack extensions because they tried with that and failed ( big names have left )
Something creators can port there kontakt libraries into maybe
One line per thought
You may wonder why
Such a thing he was taught
It makes me want to cry
jens wrote: Mon Dec 06, 2021 10:40 pm Nope, the DAW is the thing. frankly put: the Rack is just a silly toy full of things to play around with if you enjoy tinkering about rather than actually producing music (which is nothing wrong about at all of course - been there, done that).
I meant that the rack plugin is the main product as far as RS goes. He wanted RS to separate them into two different products and i explained why they won't do that. I agree that they should focus on the whole DAW eco-system. That twitter post antic made a thread about isn't very convincing, no reason to see that as anything but intelligent marketing. Only a massive finished update (preferably several) to the DAW (with no overlap with the RRP) could make me believe there's actually a future for it at this point.

That's the problem when a company takes over that wants a quick turnaround
The problem is that they will probably dump reason after a while
Hopefully someone good comes in
It's like having a chairman of your football team who's spending not enough money on players while just makin profit margins

Let bandlab buy them out least a company like that cares and updates very regularly lol

The old owner and co creator cared about his creation
To the new guys it's a product I mean
What was wrong with the name
Propellerhead Studios
Reason Studios is so basic
And so is the new logo
No clue
Last few years from them have been rushed
There like a government who doesn't care about its people starving they just wanna get money
Yeah I dont like the new name or new logo. Can you imagine if Apple started calling themselves Mac Studios and replaced their iconic logo with an M symbol. Whenever new executives take over they always want to change things. Ableton still has the same CEO and I was reading an interview where he said they would never sell the company for any amount of money. Ableton literally dont care about subscriptions.

I do like Ableton who knows in the future
But even if they do sell the company
I'm sure someone will take it back on
Even on a smaller scale like renoise
Would be fine I don't see them dying completely

While we ar at it which big music software's folded completely? Specifically daws

I'm gonna ask that question somewhere else mayb

The rack plugin will most likely survive for a long time. I doubt another business would bother spending money on the DAW though. Would they recognize the value of the sequencer + mixer + rack together, that a few keep mentioning? They would see all the complaints about how outdated it is and they would probably just take a look at Cakewalk and see there's a free competent DAW out there. It's crazy how saturated the DAW and VST market is now.

This forum has been down on reason since I first came here in 2005, and well before I started using it. It’s had its demise predicted here forever. If you had stopped here a few years ago you would have thought the only issue it had was hi dpi support…

It’s no matter. Geese like to honk. Use what you like regardless.

Back then Reason didnt support VSTs. At the time the forum was called KVR-VST and was was a place to talk about new plugins so Reason was looked down upon.

Meh. If it was actually complete, or even “Komplete” complete it might be, it isn’t yet.
