You might like Arcsyn and/or Biotek 2

I don't think any of those are a new absynth. Including plasmonic even it's the same developer. There would have to be many synthesis types including granular, wavetable etc. and tons of modulation. I'd say things like Rapid, Avenger, Pigments, Equator, Omnisphere 2, Icarus 2. To more and lesser extents.

All of those seem run of the mill like I was talking about but don't know them all intimately. I did check the Brian Clev synth out but it sounds totally different.
Transistow is insane but is very advanced, no GUI.
Modular is above my head also.
Does no VST have on board multi timbral or do you need to manually insert lots of instances? Just a hardware thing?

true, the problem is, there is no real, new absynth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Dec 09, 2021 10:18 pm I don't think any of those are a new absynth. Including plasmonic
it is kind of a thing alone.
its like coca cola, theres lots of "colas" but none are quite the same, theyre close, but not close enough!
in that respect, id suggest maybe form, also ni, its not absynth, buts its unique, takes some learning but is a thing of beauty when you do!

there's no 'new absynth' (or alternative) and by the looks of how they 'changed' Massive, i don't think there will be 'another absynth' quite like the original.
Maybe they will just update the original with a better (bigger) UI and some new additions. Which would be great

Absynth is the new Absynth. It just happens to be old. NI should hire that guy back. He knew what’s what.

*sniff* *sniff* That was the most beautiful elegy for Absynth I've ever seen, vurt... I'm getting misty-eyed over here...vurt wrote: Thu Dec 09, 2021 10:51 pmtrue, the problem is, there is no real, new absynth.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Dec 09, 2021 10:18 pm I don't think any of those are a new absynth. A well-behaved signature.

I think Zebra 2 might be close, although it's getting kind of old itself.
Other than that, Absynth is just a sui generis work of art, in my experience and opinion. It's special.

Absynth needs two things: an updated GUI and some updated filters. The originals are sounding a bit cheap these days. Hopefully, while NI furiously updates all their plugins for Mac, they slap a new coat of paint on.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?
