One thing to keep in mind everyone:
- VCV Rack 2 Pro is a commercial product with support
- The vast majority of the thousands of modules are free, and open source
- I'd say most of the plugin developers who have released free modules are not fulltime developers, or certainly don't work on VCV Rack fulltime, many are total amateurs (and I don't mean that as a dig, it's great that people can pick up C+ or whatever and start making modules)
- Sometimes modules may crash Rack
- You're encouraged to report the issues to the actual VCV Rack developers via the support page, and some module developers may want reports on Github, but keep in mind, with thousands of new Rack users, these developers may not have signed up for spending hours and hours fielding a bunch of support requests, may have other commitments, etc. So at the very least, don't pester, don't be rude, etc. Sounds like some module developers have had some bad interactions with users and tons of support requests, and frankly, they weren't really signing up for that and most are not being compensated.
- You're strongly encouraged to donate to module developers who do this for free.

Question: is there any sequencer in vcv rack 2 that is better than Reaktor Blocks Shift Sequencer or Reaktor Blocks Curve Sequencer? I would buy VCV if there's such cool sequencers for it...

Better I can’t tell, different for sure…

Most VCV modules are inspired by hardware. Something like the Kodiak Curve sequencer can’t be made that easy as hardware and yes its cool… If you own blocks, you could actually combine them, route those modulations as audio through your DAW…

'Better' is of course subjective but as VCV2 is free (unless you want to use it as a plug in) and has 100's of free sequencers the best )and most fun) thing to do is just check it out!dune_rave wrote: Fri Dec 10, 2021 5:45 am Question: is there any sequencer in vcv rack 2 that is better than Reaktor Blocks Shift Sequencer or Reaktor Blocks Curve Sequencer? about the vcv drums https://www.vult-dsp.com/post/making-of-the-vcv-drums
i think i m gonna buy the vult modules, just to support for all the free stuff and after using them more some really ooze a nice and strong caractere, not the usual stuff.
for drums the prok modules seems also intresting, anyone familiar with these?

Hello, I am the developer of the Atelier VCV plugin and the Palette module.kobal wrote: Wed Dec 08, 2021 3:54 pm i don t know the diff with palette and the audible osc i guess it s the same code with some slight change
The history behind Palette is a bit convoluted...It started when there was no polyphonic version of Plaits, named "Macro Oscillator 2" in VCV Rack, available. I made a fork of the Audible Instruments plugin and added the polyphony capability into Plaits/MO2, but didn't really do much other changes. I then tried submitting that fork into the VCV library, but that was not accepted and resulted in some controversy. The VCV library is not supposed to contain near exact duplicates of plugins/modules with only minor alterations in the code and especially no modules that have duplicated the GUI panel designs. Which makes sense now in retrospect, but that rule/guideline was not clear for me back at that point in time. (The guidelines were updated as a result of all that, though.)
I was then contacted by the graphics designer Pyer, who volunteered to make a completely new design for the module panel and we also had discussions about some additional features. We ended up with the Palette module, which largely has the same code as the Audible Instruments Plaits/MO2 module, but we made the existing features more easily accessible in the GUI and also some additional things were added, like the unisono/spread mode.
In the end, the original Plaits/Macro Oscillator 2 in the VCV Audible Instruments plugin also got polyphony.
But I don't regret making Palette at all, it was a good experience working with Pyer and I like the end result.
