Effect Grid - A sound designer's dream for multi-band effect chains

I have played around with it and for my purposes there is not enough control over the crossovers -I get stuttering which I dont get if I use something like G8 as a gate, as G8 has much more control over what gets accepted and what gets rejected. And I can plug G8 into Bluecat mb-7 for a simpler version of the amplitude divisions Effect Grid allows
But might be perfect for the sort of material you make. Definitely worth a go and I look forward to seeing updates and other products from these devs given the interesting take of their first product

I like it!:)
it needs some finetuning but its a useful splitter for me.

field recording was my test data - I found I really needed to be able to adjust the split to avoid stuttering of the signal. But that adjustment for amplitude was not available in the way a normal gate would allow. Did you find this? If that additional sophistication was available I would buy it - the idea is fantasticwakax wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 8:01 am I like it!:)

Hey, sorry to hear that.Synthack wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 7:12 am Ok I tried to install this, and I'm not impressed with this demo at all.
First off why do WE need to sign up and give our personal information just to try out your demo? I'm not sure what you do with that information and you say it's just for "licencing and statistics" but for all we know it could be being sold to a data brokerage.
Why would i suspect this? Well for one when I start the demo plugin it wants to connect to Google and Bing which is just slightly suspicious.
When I demo a U-he product, or any other well known developers product they don't ask for anything like this.
It's a useful idea for a product idea but these are too many hoops to jump through.
I think perhaps you're applying 'corporate logic' to a small product made by 2 people..
You don't need to give any personal information, you can put everything fake, except for the email, but that's standard practice, and you can always use protonmail for that if you're that worried.
In terms of the plugin connecting to Google/Bing - this is just for troubleshooting reasons, to be able to tell if when there's a connection problem is the problem caused by the user's internet connection or our server. We send no data to those sites. The reason we chose it is they have very low downtime so they are good for troubleshooting. We could change it to something like DuckDuckGo if this bothers people, once again though, we don't send any data.
Also we have a Privacy Policy which explicitly mentions we don't sell any user info
I hope this answers your complaints, thank you for giving our plugin a try

The reason for the lack of usual gate controls is due to the gates being interdependent - the signal goes between the gates and they have to transition well so the attack of one is the decay of another etc. In hindsight there might be a slightly different way of doing the splitting that would prevent the occasional stuttering and we might introduce it as a free update at some point in the future (so you'll have 2 algorithms to choose from)fairlyclose wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 8:29 amfield recording was my test data - I found I really needed to be able to adjust the split to avoid stuttering of the signal. It's fixed nowAgreed wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 2:05 pm Band splitting multifx by frequency and other ways then processing the bands independently is one of the things I do with Metaplugin often, or use a software made for it like TRIAD. I also have Multipass which does something similar with Kilohearts' plugin ecosystem.
Even with those tools though I think the amplitude bands are interesting conceptually, could be used to give additional dynamic elements to a sound, I've used TRIAD's spectral follower to try to do something like that previously but I am quite interested to see what I could do with this.
Is the trial going to be fixed soon?

Hanallred wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:53 pm This looks really cool and I’ll definitely demo once that $15 bug is worked out.
-Any native support for Apple Silicon?
-Only being able to activate one computer at a time? Almost every plugin I own allows at least 2 as a lot of us have our main studio computer and a laptop/travel rig. I’m sure most of us would appreciate stepping this limit up to two.
Congrats on this very intriguing release!
Hey, glad you like the idea : )
The demo bug is now fixed.
Yes we support Apple Silicon, but there wasn't extensive testing on it yet so if you have any issues let us know on our discord group: https://discord.gg/B8waKjXVzs
In terms of the 1 computer limit, the reason we chose it for now is it was easier to implement it technically, and we offer a pretty low pretty low price to counter that. But we'll look into it.

Happy to announce we've now drastically improved the algorithm and the plugin is now very clean in all applications : ) Just download the latest version from our sitewakax wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:01 am fairyclose:

Hey, the stuttering is now fixed and the sound quality has been greatly improved in general. You can now also set your own attack and release times. It's a free update so just get the latest version from our website.fairlyclose wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 8:29 amfield recording was my test data - I found I really needed to be able to adjust the split to avoid stuttering of the signal. Major props to EffectGrid for cranking out updates and posting on a forum when most people are celebrating and taking time off. That's dedication and it speaks volumes about the work ethic of their two person team. I'm already covered in terms of multi-band effects, but if I ever need an additional tool or just a change of pace, I'll certainly keep this in mind. Good luck going into the new year!!EffectGrid wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:57 pmHey, the stuttering is now fixed and the sound quality has been greatly improved in general. thanks I am demo-ing again and there is a definite improvement. Something I like is that EffectGrid is not on sale, like Valhalla and others it just has a very fair price so I dont have to be in a hurry. Almost certainly I will buy it, and contribute a few suggestionsEffectGrid wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:57 pmHey, the stuttering is now fixed and the sound quality has been greatly improved in general.
