Running under Wine - Sforzando / Kontakt?

Whilst support for music creation on Linux is slowly improving, there were still two total blocks for me last time I looked:
- I need Sforzando
- I need Kontakt (5 full, plus some 6 NI libraries)
When I looked, neither of these were supported. I need full, real-time (i.e. zero latency added under a VST host) support.
Has anything changed?
I'm currently sticking with Windows 10 - one PC (a mere seven year old) can't be updated, the other could: but I hear bad things about Windows 11 and low latency audio. Ideally, I'd be on Linux anyway, but I do need Sforzando and Kontakt...

I know somebody asked me if there's a way to run my Sforzando libraries under Linux, bought one a few hours later before I got around to replying properly, and then told me it works fine under sfizz. I know people have kinda sorta gotten Sforzando working under Wine, but, well, probably not something you'd want to rely on. But sfizz might be worth a try.

Both Sforzando and Kontakt work on Linux without too many problems. I don't personally use them, but Glokraw does regularly. He has posted instructions and tips and has blogged the continued progress and improvement of using WINE to do this. First, there was a tool called linvst, but there is a better tool called yabridge now. The Staging version of WINE, plus yabridge will get you what you need, if you can handle a bit of a learning curve.pljones wrote: Sat Dec 11, 2021 2:51 pm Whilst support for music creation on Linux is slowly improving, there were still two total blocks for me last time I looked:

Thanks -- I thought I'd seen improvements happening but couldn't remember the specifics. (And yeah, reading 26+ pages didn't seem the quickest way...

Maybe you could just do a search on the thread for keywords such as Kontakt or Sforzando? That would likely bring up the posts you are searching for.pljones wrote: Tue Dec 14, 2021 7:20 am Thanks -- I thought I'd seen improvements happening but couldn't remember the specifics. Also, search towards the end of the thread where the newest developments have taken place.
