Ive demoed the roland cloud zenology JD-800 model extension and well, its a bit daunting. but i think the preset Wailing Guitar probably was involved somehow. And a saw, and lots of filtering, a phaser, a pitch lfo or probably the "random pitch" fader of the jd-800 ....

If you're trying to recreate it I would start by getting the right notes first, then the right "stutters" in the midi.
Then get the pitch bending right with simple automation.
When you have that start by using a simple supersaw and then start trying out formant filters or eq sweeps and/or a phaser.
It wouldn't be super hard but it would take quite some time to get something similar enough.

I think you already know how to make the sound, there's no secret to have it quicker. Pull your goto synth and do it by ear.

thanks for the replies! i really dont know how to make it, i have an idea of how to; but my ability is just not there as far as sound design. Theres so many subtleties; the pitch bends/pitch lfo ( i seem to hear a pattern to the pitch bends) then the bends of individual notes in real time on some of the notes, then there is a noise layer, a saw layer, some sort of 'organic' layer which i believe could be a rock guitar sample - since the JD800 is a LA synth; using samples from rom rather than oscillators.
then its the phaser effect; the high pass filter tweakage aswell as low pass it sounds like, maybe some sort of bandpass. But the midi pattern itself including the pitch bends im not too interested in; well i am but; that can come over time.
Im more interested in the sound itself rather than the melody and pitch bending in this case. And how it seems to evolve over time in a very organic way; sounding like a "real" instrument rather than a synth line; imho.
