sorry to hit with more questions -
what does it mean when a knob is 'redded out' - in the same fashion as a traditional 'greyed out' knob - it appears it is unusable.
Can anyone suggest how I fix this - ie I have a 'redded out' attack knob on my adsr whilst the delay/sustain/release are not redded out and are usable.
thanks to anyone who knows !
Also - please can someone chime into my next question - lots of the presets have a 'clicky' nature , some of my favourate sounds within the preset browser have a clicky sound , I have tried to adjust it with the attack but it appears to alter things too much - is it just that with Modular synths lots of plucky sounds exhibit this type of behaviour - ie your into your modular now and you had better learn to enjoy these clicks , its like almost like glitch music clicks going over say some sine waves on the plucks.
Got to add , to everyone whos said it before ... these sine waves ... they really do sound good - i was trying yesterday to do some sine waves on some old gear i have , a sem , roland sh2 and tried a korg dv800 - the dv800 prob did the best ones ... but I have to say the sine waves on softube are much better , i dont think ive heard better ones - they sound very nice in a plucky way transposed up a lot. I think reading through the posts on this thread others have commented on the sine waves , they are a bit of shinning star to the softube plug

A performance module is probably assigned to the attack knob. On page 31 in the Modular manual is it explained how this works.JUSTINO wrote: Thu Dec 16, 2021 12:46 pmwhat does it mean when a knob is 'redded out' - in the same fashion as a traditional 'greyed out' knob - it appears it is unusable.

You can simply delete the performance module(s), it also deletes the assignment.

Old hardware modular trick....JUSTINO wrote: Thu Dec 16, 2021 12:46 pmAlso - please can someone chime into my next question - lots of the presets have a 'clicky' nature , some of my favourate sounds within the preset browser have a clicky sound , I have tried to adjust it with the attack but it appears to alter things too much - is it just that with Modular synths lots of plucky sounds exhibit this type of behaviour - ie your into your modular now and you had better learn to enjoy these clicks , its like almost like glitch music clicks going over say some sine waves on the plucks.
VCO -> VCA -> VCF
instead of VCO -> VCF -> VCA
The only downside is, if the filter is a little bit noisy, you have to use a noisegate. But I think, most Softube filters sound clean.
For filtering the click of the sine waves, I would add 100% keytrack to the (lowpass) filter....

Thanks I have had a little look at them , its pretty hard to understand , I bought the softube pretty much when it came out , and for all this time its just not been used , due to me being v put off with the wire system.
I do need to look at these manuals because without them it really is double dutch. I've never even seen these symbols on my analog synths I own.
I wish Softube had done a nice detailed series on modular , groove 3 did a small video series but it really was a starter one for softube modular.

quick question
whist sales on at softube i am looking at getting anything that i dont have -
i am trialing the mutable inst ones on softube but am not impressed - at first i thought i would get on sale but now dont like it, not sure the port sounds as good as the real thing.
what is the moog model d like in modular - is it a must have ? is it worth the cash - think they are putting it into some mega sale before xmas.

The mutable instruments should sound identical it’s the same code. Definitely the model d is a no brainer.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Dec 17, 2021 11:51 am quick question

The moog model d in the modular is part of the package that comes with model 72 synth as you know.
I won't argue it is the most accurate model D (apparently there is something about the glide that is inaccurate compared to the original hardware, I read somewhere here on kvr) but to me it is the best sounding MiniMoog software emulation. For that alone it is more than worth it, to me. It being in modular is just an extra bonus.

I'm just own the Braids module. It sounds good, better than the VCV Rack emulation, but I wouldn't buy it again. I have not much use for it. The other two MI modules are definitely not my cup of tea.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Dec 17, 2021 11:51 ami am trialing the mutable inst ones on softube but am not impressed - at first i thought i would get on sale but now dont like it, not sure the port sounds as good as the real thing.
Maybe the MI modules would make more sense in combination with other digital modules and in an environment like VCV Rack.
The Moog modules are my favourites besides the Model84 and Doepfer modules. Is it must have? I don't know, they have a distinctive sound. Soundwise you can do the same sounds (and more) with the Doepfer modules.JUSTINO wrote: Fri Dec 17, 2021 11:51 amwhat is the moog model d like in modular - is it a must have ? is it worth the cash - think they are putting it into some mega sale before xmas.
It's a little bit funny, but my favourite sounds from the Model72 modules are just simple one oscillator patches.

Mmm interesting , I am yet to try the model 72. I must try it , I might do it tonight.
I am changing my mind and buying the Braids one - I like the supersaw on it. I have made a track using the system 8 supersaw , and the one I made on the modular is much better - two supersaws ... what a big sound. The only prob is my patch uses so much cpu on my 2019 macbook pro ( so not too old really ) - that I would have to use it as a seperate project and bounce out the part.
I am going to buy the flanger thing as well - its a good time to buy it as the sale is on and its pretty useful.
Other news , I am .... experimenting and learning ! some progress made ...
At first it was much harder than it is now , I am getting there , not able to tackle these more complex things like seq and the 4ms ping etc , but I am getting there with playable patches which is a big step for me - the thing sounds great and its worthwhile - you sort of feel a reward with it , its not the same as just messing with arturia or whatever - you kind of feel better about making a patch on this

Legend....

Model 72 smokes legend in terms of pure sound. But legend is indeed more convenient and efficient for polyphonic applications. Building a polyphonic Moog in Modular likes the cpu attention for itself.

guys -
can you tell me is this a good price for the softube model 72 ?
£67.00 so its half price on Plug in Boutique
Plugin Boutique is a little bit cheaper than the actual softube site - is this the best place to buy softube stuff from
I notice plugindiscounts no longer do softube stuff - they used to do good prices on softubes plugs.
The softube website says - the model 72 will be Unlocked between December 28th - 30th - but they dont give a price for it during this period.
So is 50% off on plugin boutique the best I will find ?
thanks guys

To each their own, but since I got Model 72, for a mini moog bass and lead I haven't used Monark or Legend since in anything.
