I just ordered a novelty pick-up, getting the Rumble pack for TE's OPz. It's literally a rumble pack like the ones you get on game controllers but will rumble with the bass. Eh, it was on sale and looks fun.

Other than that I think I'm done with hardware purchases this year. On a plus note... we got the medical bills and they weren't as bad as expected. $1400 is not great, but I really thought it was going to be more so we can breathe again. Even better the missus is doing well so it's all worth it.

This thread and 2021 have been a dangerous but damn fun combination that I definitely needed.

My only regrets for not purchasing in 2021 are the white Arturia Microfreak and Korg's NTS-1. My B-day is in about 6 weeks already so I think I know what I'll be getting!

Damn that sounds good. I’m gonna do some more digging on this. I don’t know much about the Bluesbreaker sound other than hearing John Mayer’s name attached to it on Continuum. I found a good read from Vurt’s man-crush on the JHS site https://thejhsshow.com/articles/what-is-a-bluesbreaker

I had mistakenly lumped it in with the Boss Blues Driver so time for me to learn something new
Try something like a Mooer Blues Crab to see if you like the Bluesbreaker sound - they're cheap and pretty close to the real thing (I A/Bed them a few years ago).

Definitely don't give that JHS gobsh*%e any of your money :)

see, it's not just me :)

I grew to dislike that JHS guy pretty quickly from watching a couple of his videos. I don't really know or care what his story is, but I haven't once been even remotely inclined to buy any of his pedals.

*They seem pretty boring to me, from what I've seen I guess.

The reviews are pretty good comparing it to Protein even and apparently everyone’s favorite JHS, with the Morning Glory. This might be a 2021 pick up. It wouldn’t hurt at all to try at this price

I can see why he elicits so much dislike. What I like is that he nerds out on pedal origins and tries to put to rest the myths of some sought after pedals.

He has lots of self deprecating but dry humor throughout his shows. Yes dull but he’s also saved me from buying a few things I didn’t need after all.

Still no JHS pedals in the home yet!

I almost bought the rat clone but now have the Rattler (which is un-rat like) and an actual rat so I’m good for now.

A lot of the JHS dislike was from his behaviour with DeviEver on one of the DIY stompbox forums. I believe he did apologise in the end (could be wrong) but he was an ass about cloning her design (amongst others). Obviously he's not the only boutique builder who gets up to such douchebaggery but it was his behaviour through the whole sordid episode that did it for me.

And I'm not even getting into the religious stuff :)

yeah it was the more reprehensible stuff than how annoying he is.

Ahhh… was not aware of all that. I thought it was just him being a weird sorta creepy guy on his show.

Makes sense
