I recently learned about C/R copy protection and would like to know when a plugin phones home.
Years ago I had a firewall that ask me for authorization every time any application would try to connect to the internet--it was exhausting. Do you know of any lightweight program that just keeps a log or just shows real-time who's trying to connect? I don't want a firewall, just a snitch, maybe even something I don't need to install?
I've googled around but that's exactly the kind of search that brings up a lot of noise.
EDIT: maybe I don't need to install anything new, it looks like Windows' Resource Monitor may be the ticket. Anyways, if you have suggestions let me know. Yes, I forgot to say I'm using Windows.

OK, so resmon was pretty helpful
it turns out the host (in my case Studio One) requests internet connections on behalf of each plugin. For example, in resmon I found that studio one.exe was requesting connections to UJAM (104.22.41.109) and Celemony (213.198.9.218).
It takes about 15 seconds for S1 to open any Waves plugin the first time I use a Waves plugin, for subsequent Waves plugins (no matter which ones) it's almost instant. My guess is that there's some C/R going on right there, but I couldn't see anything, maybe I missed it.

I'm using malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control, which seems to be a GUI for the windows firewall, it's doing exactly what I want and it's free

glasswire is subscription based, not for me

Glasswire has a free version, which is what I use. It removes the ability to block connections but still tells you what's connecting to where and when. Malwarebytes WFC looks interesting - I'll check it out
