LocalTrack19 wrote: Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:03 pm One thing to consider: the headphone amp of the Focusrite Solo sucks. Not enough to power anything over, say, 50 Ohm, unless you like mixing at a real low volume. And also check if you need loop back, not all audio interfaces you mention offer this
Thanks for this information. Is it only issue of Focusrite Solo? I did not see mentioned that...

What do you mean with "loop back"?
If you want an honest review by someone who does not get free stuff from the big vendors, check out Julian Krause’s channel on YouTube. Although people make fun of his accent and say he is a robot (which is silly, he is just not a native English speaker) he has some excellent content and unbiased advice.
With loopback I mean that your audio interface can combine audio from multiple sources and thus is also prepared for streaming content directly to for instance OBS without any necessary additional software or extremely difficult configuration in OBS.

I know that guy from review of Audient iD4 MKII, which I decided to buy. Thanks for info.

Audient is a good one. Good for driving a headphone and it has loopback. Have fun with it

Is your room treated ? If not I would stick with headphones, if yes then the Yamaha HS series is good for small rooms

You don't need to treat your room for nearfield monitoring, That's the whole f**king point of it!!!!

It's the issue with their whole Saffire and Scarlett range.
OK. Strange is that nobody mentioned that on youtube (or I overlooked it). Is this that reason you prefered Behringer AI?
The Focusrite can drive up to 200 Ohm. If you have issues with the volume on headphones above 50 Ohm you either have a hearing problem or you will get one soon.

But it is true that it is on the weak side. You can use it with, say 250 Ohm Beyerdynamics, but that already stretches it a bit. With the Beyerdynamics I always added an additional headphone amp.
Just wanted to point out, in case someone else is reading through this thread for advice, that it is impedance and sensitivity together. Not impedance alone, that determines how difficult headphones are to drive.

So you can't just throw out an ohm number for the solo, which has a pretty weak headphone amp. I own 12.5 ohm headphones that it would not drive properly.

If someone needs very small speakers for home studio, there's obviously Genelec.

But in the under $1,000 a pair budget range, the IK Multimedia iloud MTM performed excellent in independent measurements at ASR

For the longest time I had the presonus eris e3.5 small monitors and they packed a punch for how compact they were! Plus they are 100 bucks.
