It's time for REASON 3 beta testing ...

So thats really the final feature list? I'm somewhat disappointed... I was expecting alot more -
like a decent modulation device to replace the chorus/phaser
more soundsets for maelstrom
timestretching in NNXT
easier to load multiple sample sets in NNXT
devices from rebirth integrated
new synth - perhaps FM
more flexible delay
Rewire able to send 'load' messages - ie. auto-loads the correct track on startup.
oh well...
Hopefully the new factory soundbank makes up for it somewhat.

After looking at the 3.0 list of features I may just continue using 2.5... I can't see a single thing that interests me! Lately, I've been using Reason just to program drums, (and some pads) and saving them as wave files to import into Live... I think they missed the boat on this one...

Look, please don't shoot me here. I am just making a simple and wishful statement. I know it would never happen and many of you reading this will think that I missed the point completely.
but...
wouldn't it be nice to have these cpu efficient reason devices function as simple vst plugins (i.e. no need to run Reason in Rewire). And when you get reason, you also get these plugins so re-wire might not even be necessary.
I hope that maybe the Combinator might be able to run in rewire by itself. Maybe this might solve my scene clutter issues.
By the way, I know that this is ridiculous so please don't get all pissed off and go on ranting to justify reason's shortcomings/idiosyncrasies.

I don't know why its so hard for people to see what the Props think Reason is supposed to be: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/category/c512

The new devices sound pretty cool.. but still no new super cool delay or filter unit like I was hoping for.DKeenum wrote:Here are some details:

Yeah, I've always said this: I'd love to see NN-XT and Scream (at least) as VSTs. But I can cope with having to do the Rewire hokey-pokey well enough.deggy wrote:wouldn't it be nice to have these cpu efficient reason devices function as simple vst plugins

The Props... Whoa, they have clearly gone off in a singular direction here! So many things I have considered, and NONE of them VST support or audio! I always though they could just add "audio in" to Recycle, and solve that... Add a few things to the sequencer, note preview, midi clips, and better automation... to name a few! Frankly, the quality of refills is so good these days, I haven't really lamented the instrument drought, or even the FX, but to beef up the factory sound bank after I've dumped a ton of money on refills? Arghh! wish I had known that... They seem to know something we don't? that's my impression! I like Reason, and have considered using it for my only host for a long time, I have a great workflow down with it, but there were always just a few things I needed to make that happen... Looks like it will always be a program that you use with something else at this point...

The MClass Compressor features a sidechain input for advanced compression tricks such as ducking or de-essing, a soft-knee mode for smooth, musical compression and CV out for dynamically controlling other Reason devices.
nice

Yes, it's going to be another app. that lets you run VSTs, but you have to Rewire it to Reason first (because just adding VST support to Reason would make it "unstable", whereas running ANOTHER app. with VST support is, of course, a lot more "stable", right?)AD80 wrote:Aint that ridiculus? I really think they're comming out with a new product to atleast run along side Reason. It would make sense.
Why can't people just admit they're wrong?
I have to laugh as I see even Reason lovers criticising the pathetic 'upgrade', and asking (dare I say it) for VST support.
The answer is very simple: find another VST compatible app. and use that, and sell your copy of Reason. I don't see what's so great about its sequencer or piano roll - did I miss something?
