I've been thinking about this since they released the Mello-Fi today (which is excellent).
I think there will be a "saturation bundle" with a distortion plugin (that has all the distortion types found in the new Pigments 3.5 plugin), which would be focused on audio destruction/waveshaping etc and maybe a more vanilla tape emulation of some old machine.
I'm thinking Studer A80, Ampex 440B or something more obscure. Personally, I'd LOVE something from Arturia like this, that does what TAIP or Softube's Tape does.
Controls like Tape Speed, Drive, Bias, Stereo Widening etc.

I like the EQ Curve that the IK Tape Machine 80 imparts, so my vote would go to the A80 but then again - I already have one...... what I find the most important in a tape emulation however is the possibility to mix and match features. A modular tape machine so to speak. I'd like to set the amount of each component: tape compression, tape saturation, tape machine EQ curve, component tolerances, etc. pp.
In Wavesfactory Cassette for example you can enable and disable all those features but I'd like to actually determine how much of each I want. Even if, and maybe because, this would mean creating something that's not possible in the analog domain.

Maybe an Ampex ATR (102, 104, 124). Or an MCI. Has anyone done an Otari machine? Those were fairly common in studios back in the 90's/2000's.

Heard from the sister of my friends cousin that it'll be:
PillePalle Lofi and
Lutscher Lofi
Can't wait to try try it!
Will be gamechangers!

IK did both of those.
I'd much rather see the Studer A800 and Ampex ATR-102
But I'm not convinced that the Mello-Fi is going to be part of any "3 plugins you'll actually use" bundle. It's very much like the Chorus Jun-6 plugin, which seems to have been a one-off plugin derived from one of Arturia's V-Collection synths.
Perhaps they'll do the Solina Chorus and make a bundle from the Melo-Fi, Juno chorus, and Solina chorus. I'd very much like the Solina chorus as a standalone effect.

At least one will be a painstaking recreation of the gaffer's tape used to label the custom-built mixing boards at EMI's Abbey Road Studio in the mid-late '60s. I'm sure of it!

Yeah, I couldn't even imagine my life without such a product!Winstontaneous wrote: Thu Dec 23, 2021 9:54 am At least one will be a painstaking recreation of the gaffer's tape used to label the custom-built mixing boards at EMI's Abbey Road Studio in the mid-late '60s. I'm sure of it!
I believe there's much to cover in the saturation field. Arturia seems to reuse written code wherever it fits, I expect a downsampler/bit crusher and based on the recent 3.5 update, a folder-waveshaper product. I think likely some more tape, but not a whole set of tape plugins. But I could be wrong here.
Edit: I went a bit overboard and off topic, edited out..
