Happy Christmas Eve to you guys! I wish you all to have a great day & evening!

In this video, you'll see me go through the dry sounds of the library, with an external reverb, and in the context of an acoustic song.

I hope you'll enjoy it! What's not to like about free string textures right? :)

So you do reviews of free samples other people have created and provided then want us to to support you?

Shouldn't we instead be supporting the creators since they actually did the work?

One doesn't exclude the other :)

There are so many musicians here who believe that only expensive
commercial samples are available. But that's not true, because
there are countless great, free samples and multisamples. The only
problem: The free sample libraries are not offered and promoted
so aggressively, you have to search for them yourself.

TomC has already searched - and thus gives many searchers
additional options - and may also encourage them to search for
them themselves. I think that's good. :tu:

One does not exclude the other. On the contrary: the authors
get more attention - and also more donations.

Thank you! I've only had great feedback from the developers, be it from free and paid libraries. I chose to only do free sample library reviews during the holidays.

I'll do more of those in the future. The criticism can be good, but I didn't find that comment constructive. I spend days and days working on these videos, I do promote myself while promoting the products, but I also keep mentioning the names of the creators. I think my work has its place :)

Sorry but I find your recent participation at KVR to be rather spammy.

That's just my opinion which of course means nothing. Whether anyone else agrees or not is of no consequence to me.

People have been contributing free plugins, samples, patches, advice, tech support, etc at KVR for over two decades. That's what makes this place a community, people helping each other without asking for anything in return.

I may be missing it but I don't see Stuart Bramwell the creator of this sample content asking for anyone to "buy him a coffee". Perhaps it's because he understands the concept of community.

I'll say nothing more on the subject.

No one's obliged to buy me anything and I'm here to discuss anything regarding the plugins I review, from which I always read the online info and read the manuals.

Creators, sample library developers, artists, composers... often use patreon, sell merch, often refer to their affiliate links / buy me a coffee pages, use promotional banners.

I think that what's annoying you is the frequency of my posts, I can understand that but I put in some hard work and thought in everything I review. I'm always here in the chat and react to the comments, one by one. It's not just as if I was just dropping stuff here and leaving. I've only had good intentions towards the people here and had really nice & friendly chats with most of them. Even often helping with plugin support for the products I promote.

On top of that, and again, none of the time I've invested in the videos for the free products has been paid in any way shape or form. I've not received a single donation so far for these videos (maybe it'll come in the near future, who knows).

The tone in my videos is always friendly and so is the way I talk to people here. I'm open to other people voicing their opinions about my stuff if they're willing to do so.

Another thing, the libraries I've promoted have been downloaded multiple times thanks to the videos I've made. I've also received very nice comments from the developers regarding my promotion of their content.

Stuart's got his Patreon page pinned both in the comments and mentioned in the description of his videos.

I'll actually share his Patreon in the post so that people can support his work if they want to.

I don’t mind your frequency of posts here, but it does have a nature of what Teksonik calls “spammy”. My hopefully constructive advice would be, to dedicate a single thread to it instead of a new one for each. Give it a meaningful title and all is good. It won’t be overlooked… You could as well post donation links of the creators in the same post as a plus… That would turn it into a win win win…

No! Don't make a single thread with all your videos. It will end like those solipsistic threads where it's the OP replying to himself in aeternum, swirling round and round into the void like some character of Dante's Inferno.

Thanks a lot for your comment! To be honest this current thing of me posting very regularly is a goal that I gave to myself for the end of this year to review a free library / a day for the people that have spent all their budget in paid stuff. By doing that, I got to love Pianobook more and more and quite a few people downloaded the libraries I promoted :).

I'll slow down after the 31st or 1st January and will go back to posting here in a more reasonable way.
I do think that a single thread wouldn't serve me nor the creators whose products would be lost in the comment section.

Haha I like your way of describing it. I agree, I'll just post in a more reasonable way after the end of the month.

as tj said, just make sure to include links for donations to the sample devs too 8)

as i said elsewhere, while you may post a bit, unlike many other video posters, you do engage and discuss the videos. very different to dropping a link, then never posting in the thread, thats annoying! but you don't do that.

and i also understand why you are seeking donations, as a live musician, you've lost income recently and are trying to recover some losses. and as you said, you do put work in and any donation is voluntary

i do understand where tek is coming from, but i think this is a slightly different case to usual, spam posters, and community does include you, so why shouldn't the members who wish to, support you?

just my opinion 8)

Thank you for sharing! :)

I definitely won't start new threads without engaging with people. I'd love to spend more time on other people's threads and share my thoughts. So... I'll try to do more of that.

I could remove the 'support me' stuff, as mentioned earlier, I haven't received any single 'coffees' from doing it so far. I have had people check out my music though, so there's that. Doing these videos doesn't bring me any income at this stage.

I'm not here to complain... but well, I'm primarily a touring musician and all music venues, theaters, cinemas have been closed down here due to new Covid restrictions. I can't plan anything without it being changed every other week. It's a real pain in the bum to say the least. So yeah, I guess I'm a full time YouTuber now haha. I don't know if I'm doing it the right way and I'm certainly hearing what others have to say about it.

There will be other daily videos shared on KVR until 31st December or 1st January. After that, I'll slow things down with the posting.

Post

dont remove it if you don't want to yourself. it's not hurting anyone to ask.

none of the mods have complained? that's the only time you need to worry, a couple of people not liking it, well, whatever we do, there will always be a couple somewhere who don't like it...

covid, has sadly changed the world for many of us, nothing wrong with trying to make the best of the "new way"
