This is out of production, but if you can find a used CME VX60, it’s supposedly a pretty killer controller…

Didn’t Akai make a red controller too?

think they only did the red 249 - no red 261s

korg did a stunning red sv1 73-key for a while

sadly the new sv2 come in black or white only

That's rather distinctive looking, but I'd be cautious if the key action is similar to the CME UF6 I briefly owned, which was VERY stiff...it actually took noticeable effort to hold down a chord because the overly stiff springs were pushing up against my fingers with a fair bit of force the entire time. The hammer-action UF8 was decent, but I didn't like their synth key actions on their UF6/7 at all.

Sorry, someone has to be "that" guy: Why red? 8)

... and why not Nord/Clavia (altho I don't think they make a midi controller)?
A friend of mine bought one of those. It died after a couple of years (stopped sending midi from the keys).

There's just one proper reason I can think of: it's a xmas gift. If that indeed is the case, then it's far too late now and the topic may be closed.

That cute Behringer model is years out of production. So second-hand it is.

My wife needed a new laptop. I asked her: what kind? She said: red! That limited the choice considerately. I found only one bssic model and she ended up hating it

That's why I'd propose to buy a good one that is black / grey / white, dismantle it and spray paint the shell red. Takes some effort (especially redoing lettering) but well worth it.

No, it’s because red MIDI sounds warmer than silver, black, or white MIDI. Geez, you guys are so dumb sometimes
