New beginnings: (⌒.−)=★

Shawshawraw this is my first use of the Pianoteq Pro 7. I'm really digging it so far.

interesting, catchy melodic ideas in there again...100% definitely worth developing!

Pianoteq - I demo'd 4 / 5 / 6 It was good without a doubt, but... really wasn't impressed enough by the sound to buy it for the $400+ price...especially when playing 'full on' ...just didn't cut it for me, but...

The reviews of V.7 look like they might've finally cracked some of the various little ongoing issues they've had for years now?

I'm going to have another look! :)

I haven't played with it much. I have noticed some weird, I don't know exactly what to call it, but modulations in the transients. I may just not know the software enough yet, and may have a weird setting in my patch. It didn't bother me in the mix. It's pretty interesting that it's completely sample free.

I picked mine up during cyber monday for %20 off I think.

Yeah physical modelling has come a very long way in the last decade...

https://audiomodeling.com/

It has definite advantages in terms of download size, customization possibilities etc etc without any doubt...

Sample library or physical modelling - doesn't really matter as long as they're used effectively and musically as they're both so damn good nowadays! :)

I think my two biggest points from using both would be:

Samples - you have to work a little bit harder sometimes to get a little bit of 'movement' into the sound?

PM - it can be just a little bit too 'clean' at times...hasn't got those little eccentricities and foibles that the real thing always has...and you do get that a little bit with most sample libraries.

when I tried pianoteq 6, I found I was taking too much time tweaking the sound to fit what I wanted...found it much quicker and straightforward with my sampled pianos? Trouble might be that I'm so used to working with the real thing over many decades that my ear has definite expectations now that I can't side-step?

Gosh I'm practicing making loops too!! A different approach than yours, I'm prescribed an exercise of grabbing a whatever chord progression, and whipping out whatever I can do to fill in a traditional "drums, bass, guitar and key" four-part band across 16 bars, while counting down an hour to call it done. I'm on my 9th tomorrow! It's a real fun listening back.

I have a feeling you're working hard finding ways to grow on this pianoteq thing, and the sonics in your loops are inspiring! I'm still treating it as 'yet another software piano' :D

Very cool. The loop thing can provide some more immediate gratification.

I think I'll expand these into full track eventually. I just used the short format as a way to get working again. I usually take a break after a big project, and sometimes it's hard for me to get back into a groove. I think of it kind of like a sketchpad.
