I would argue that Studio One is more popular, simply because it's not a confusing mess of a UI and far more intuitive to actually make music.
Why is FL Studio so popular?

FL Studio's GUI can be as cluttered or streamlined as you like. Each window can be opened external to the main application, positioned on your desktop - and they all snap align. It's a beautiful thing. Arrange it to suit the task at hand; use as little or as much of the screen as you like.

mentioning BWS because it can import FLS projects so they can be finished in it and everybody can be happy :D peace and love

Holy F**k!
You just changed my life dude.
Not only does it open .fls files it opens Ableton format as well... I just opened one of my projects and it's damn near perfect.
Honestly that's the best Christmas pressie ever... : ) :D :hyper:
PS. Getting tired of this slagging off FL. What's the point?
Each DAW has its own idiosyncracies, you either learn them or yo don't. I have used Ableton. studio one and Bitwig and I still have a lot of affection for FL. All these DAWs can achieve the same thing. The only real difference is workflow. So you pays your money, you takes your choice...

Because those particular individuals never learned how to get the most out of the more complex aspects of the software and so were never able to maximise its potential.
The same as when somebody used to a straightforward application like Microsoft Paint (where every tool serves a singular role), then becomes lost when bombarded with the sheer volume of choices whenever attempting to use a more diverse and complex application like Adobe Photoshop.
The fact that there are so many additional tools, methods and ways to achieve the same or similar outcomes, frazzles their mind into a choice paralysis and so their workflow suffers or even grinds to a halt.
Those types of users tend to think only linearly and so cannot cope as efficiently when thrust into a more diverse non-linear environment.
Linear mindsets need everything kept plain and simple for them, with a single option provided for them to achieve each single objective.
Which is all fine and good that they prefer that linear setup. Since there are many choices available to them to cater for those simpler tastes.
However, they become frustrated that their choices are not shared by all, and worse yet, their preferred choice does not garner anywhere near as much attention as the more popular software that they could never get to grips with personally.
And so insecurity regarding their own inability of being unable to cope within a more diverse and complex non-linear setup breeds envy towards those who can. Often exhibited as public lashing out at said software (which they then term "banter" when confronted over their churlish resentful behaviour), instead of simply being content and satisfied with their own preferred DAW of choice.
In short, they feel if they can diminish the importance of the other DAW, they can feel better about not being able to adapt to it themselves. And hopefully deter others from trying, in turn helping to reduce that DAWs popularity.
You see the same kind of behaviour everywhere, especially when confronted with a more popular rival. Doesn't matter if it's DAW wars, Format wars, Console wars, or rival sports teams. The losers of each popularity/success contest are almost always the more vitriolic with their slanders towards the other competitors.

Yes, but I made about 25 full tracks since 2014 with Studio One 2 / 3 & 4. including those for videos/promo films I've uploaded to youtube. I did daily technical help for Studio One users for two years on the Presonus forums...vurt wrote: Sat Dec 25, 2021 8:02 pm how many tracks did you say you'd made last year? was it 1? I take different approaches in my design work, sometimes I take the hard way, sometimes I take the easy and I've never been afraid to show the progress at any stage. If it's not perfect then I fix it so it is.experimental.crow wrote: Sat Dec 25, 2021 8:25 pm judging by your GUI work , you're about the last person i would cite as

I let my graphic design skills and technical abilities to design and rescript GUI interfaces in this field speak for themselves. I often have people posting that they prefer my modified designs over the originals, people PM'ing me and requesting GUI's which I've not yet provided freely and even people offering money for them. And I've had people on this forum donate money towards the development of the GUI's I do, not that I've ever requested any.
So your free to have an opinion, but it doesn't mean anything given the years I've been doing this.

Well, in comparison, since 2017 (when I started making music again after a number of years off) I've made over 70 full songs in the non 'intuitive' FL with its 'confusing mess of a UI'.THE INTRANCER wrote: Sun Dec 26, 2021 5:56 amYes, but I made about 25 full tracks since 2014 with Studio One 2 / 3 & 4. including those for videos/promo films I've uploaded to youtube. Well if we're going to go all testosterone about making tracks...I've returned to music since about 18 months ago. I bought a shitload of gear, I don't use FL and I've made exactly f**k-all completed tracks. I have very nearly finished one though. But despite prevaricating continuously for 18 whole months, I have managed to scare the bejesus out of birdlife, rodents and the odd foraging mammal in the bush surrounding our house and I can make the neighbours' dogs bark at will despite them living half an acre away. AND...I am intensely proud that with my unfinished tracks I can drown out the bogan builder down the bottom of the hill whose idea of party heaven is to play Phil Phucking Collins and Dolly f**king Parton on his outside speakers at midnight.
Now that's what music is all about. Though i don't need FL to get nothing done...I can get nothing done with literally any software.
