Kudos to TBTech for keeping on listening and acting on user feedback. They just released version 1.3.0 and along with the new features and bug fixes, they also optimized pop-up menu direction. That was my pet peeve right from the first try, so much so that I mailed them about the issue. They answered immediately and now it seems to be fixed. Nice.
They have a special price till Jan 5th, tempted I am.
There were several EQ plugins which had similar features many years before Pro-Q. What FF came up with in 2009 was part of the evolution of what has always been going on. So who inspired who and in what regard? If talking about the looks, the updated 2014 release of Pro-Q 2 did kinda set a new standard of what many users are expecting from the EQ GUI. So much so that if some other release doesn't look similar to Pro-Q, they get complaints about it. Funnily enough, they would get complaints about looking too much like it too.
It's not a bad idea to utilize working and proved concepts where possible. But each in their own way, of course. It's an evolution and they are all standing on shoulders of some others.

100% of statistics like that are made up.v1o wrote: Fri Nov 12, 2021 8:01 pm 90% of the graphical analyser EQ plugins on the market either look like or are inspired by Pro-Q.

I must say, I tried this one and bought it shortly after. The workflow + the sound is so good. On par with Equilibrium sound-wise, but workflow is better. (Really sad, that DMG development seems to have stalled on new features/better workflow in recent years)
Better, more detailed functions/control than Pro-Q3 (which is a bit dumbed down unfortunately. Eg. Dynamic EQ control lacks envelope controls)
Very active development, listening and quickly implementing new useful features.
They do everything I love about modern software + sound

Hey, guys, does anybody know how the licensing works for this EQ? I have three machines I'm using, how many installations can I run from a single purchase? I found nothing about it on TBT website and their forum. Thanks in advance!

I don't think I understand the point of this thing if you already own DMG or or ProQ or one of the other 10 comparable EQs. Is there anything that makes it better? If you don't already own one of those, maybe this is a cheaper option?

From the manual:
How many computers could one serial number activate?
Each serial number could activate Kirchhoff-EQ on two different computers.
Please visit https://my.threebodytech.com and manage which of your machines are bound to which serial numbers
in your user account. There are limits on deactivation frequency, and if the system hints a failure,
please contact us with email below and describe your situation: support@threebodytech.com.

I own Equilibrium and proq 3. Kirchhoff delivered all the better workflow and features I was missing on each of them. And they're still developing and updating it. So it improves my work flow and time when mixing.
And it's about to get even better.

Yeah, why to bother reading manuals, thanks!ericzang wrote: Sun Dec 26, 2021 10:16 pmFrom the manual:

Anyway, Kirchhoff EQ looks like a really, really serious tool, it behaves great and it sound pristine or characterful when I need it. I suppose it'll become some kind of a hit quite soon. It really IS amazing in many ways.

Looks interesting. Product name also sounds like a sneeze. I have ProQ3 and Equilibrium. I like the option to tweek the DSP in Equilibrium and didn't see that in Kitchoff EQ. So, not that interested and expecially at >$100. I demoed it most for functions, workflow and no so much sound (not enough time at the moment). So far I am happy with Equilibrium. If I didn't have Equilibrium I'd seriously consider Achoo EQ. But, nice. Good luck to them.

I believe, I discovered a bug in the KirchhoffEQ (1.3.2):
The low pass filter, starting from around 9kHz, applied to Side signal only, sounds quite different in the linear phase mode, compared to in any other mode (including mixed phase). The panning is radically different. At this point I'm not sure if it's the problem with the Lin mode or all the other modes.
I reported this to TBTech, but I'd like for somebody else to confirm my experience.
If anybody, owning KirchhoffEQ, has a bit of spare time on their hands, could you please make a little experiment:
1) Start with something like a drum groove with the hi-hat panned all the way to the left,
2) Put an instance of the KirchhoffEQ on it and create a low pass filter at around 9 kHz (EDIT: make it steep - like 48dB/Oct or steeper), but for the SIDE content only,
3) Now flip between linear phase and any other mode.
Do you hear something strange?
EDIT: turns out, same thing happens with the ProQ3; maybe it's time to reeducate myself on different phase modes in filters...
EDIT2: but I still don't understand, why the Mix mode in KirchhoffEQ doesn't behave like Linear mode at 9kHz?
EDIT3: Crave EQ in its Transparent (mixed phase) mode behaves in a same way as in Linear mode in this scenario (as expected); so it must be a bug in KirchhoffEQ.

I did some testing of Kirchhoff EQ today. I'm seeing a gigantic CPU hit >20% on a 6th gen i7. Crave EQ is about 1-2%, by way of comparison. Anyone see similar results? I'm using the demo and have tested it in Acon Acoustica and Audacity. The demo version is 1.3.2.
With a CPU hit this high, it's an easy "pass", but I want to give it a chance.

I think it’s going to be my next go-to EQ. I absolutely love it. Bought it after a couple of tests. Now it seems I can’t live without it.
I never clicked with Pro-Q workflow and used to work with Equilibrium. Maybe things are going to change.
