Thankfully, eLicenser will be gone soon. And, also thankfully, these issues were relatively easy to fix, if you knew how.

I wasn't planning on upgrading to Windows 11, but accidentally destroyed my laptop recently by spilling tea on it and the replacement came with Win 11 already installed. So far so good with all the plugins I've tried so far including KOMPLETE 13, Arturia V-Collection 8, Synthmaster One, EZDrummer 2, Pianoteq, Line 6 Helix Native, Vital plus lots from BABY Audio, iZotope, TAL and others. My audio drivers also installed fine (Focusrite, Yamaha, Line 6). I'm using REAPER as my DAW which also works just fine.
Only issues I've had so far are Synthmaster One licensing which I had to manually copy the key file into the correct place because whatever UI it was trying to show me wasn't appearing (although that may have been an issue on Win 10 as well - can't remember). And I'm also getting an occasional issue in Edge web browser watching videos and the GPU Process goes to 100% for about a minute, completely hanging the browser.
As others have said, Win 11 is mostly a cosmetic upgrade over the top of the core Win 10 OS, so it's much less of a risky upgrade than previous Windows major version bumps. But it probably makes sense to defer the upgrade for a while longer if that's an option for you, to give time for any bugs to be fixed.

Hi Mark - thanks. Do you use any external controllers to play instruments in real time? That's my main area of concern -- tuning for Windows 7 and 8 could be problematic, 10 made some things worse and fewer things better... and given 10 was just 8 with a facelift... I wonder if the "facelift" for 11 will also end up making overall real time performance worse.

I had an physical voucher card for an local shop, and unexpected they dropped an 8-core Acer 20 pct down in price for a week so got myself what I had hoped for around 1050 USD ,.. pricing might be different but here it's a scoopchk071 wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:12 am

I have loads of plugins and they all appear to be working OK in windows 11 but it is a risk for sure. I somehow did the upgrade to Windows 11 without really thinking about the potential ramifications but I seem to be able to make music fine. Not to say I wont come across a problem at some point in the future.

My PC is ready for Win 11, but the option to upgrade still hasn't been rolled out here. Which I am kinda glad about tbh, at least a lot of the issues will be ironed out by the time the release arrives in the UK.

One Jamulus server operator has reported that iconising the server causes "underwater" sounds, which "didn't used to happen". After quizzing beyond the "all I did was upgrade Jamulus", we found - "Oh, and Windows from 10 to 11". We've also had reports the latest Jamulus performs better (on Linux...). It seems that Microsoft's desire to optimise foreground processing has gone even further in Windows 11 so that iconising a window can lose any priority it did have - and restoring the window doesn't fix the problem.
Has anyone seen similar behaviour with other applications - or know any ways of restoring "Optimise for background processing" to its Windows 10 behaviour?

Most of my professional applications aren't yet officially compatible with Windows 11, so no.
That, and one other thing in particular I don't like:
I have the taskbar on the side of the screen on Windows 10. With a large, widescreen display, I prefer having more vertical space (for websites, documents, etc.), even if DAW tracking is horizontal.
There's no native feature in Windows 11 to allow for this (yet... hopefully Microsoft will add it later). There is a registry hack, but I don't like using them on my professional workstation.
