Studio One, where do I get started? (Or, I hate Mixcraft, please for the love of god save me from this washed up DAW)

Why do I get the feeling that changing DAWs isn’t going to help.

The same thing happens on YouTube. I don't even bother posting comments there, anymore. You can write a long comment, only for it to "fail" and you lose everything.jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 9:22 amThat sucks. That happens to me all the time too. Or the forum just hangs for several minutes doing nothing after you hit submit. I think it's related to some anti-DOS protection they've loaded on the KVR server that logs you out constantly. Ironically, KVR is DOSing its members with it.fairlyclose wrote: Sun Dec 26, 2021 9:26 pm I foolishly wrote a long response expanding on your comment about replacement of artists. The forum software deleted it tho when I clicked submit. I have noticed this a few times lately and twice today (when I was editing a response)
Anyhow, it was about the effect of commodification on specialisation
I found that after you login again you can usually hit the back button a couple times and your post will be in the reply box. But I usually copy&paste the whole thing before I play submission roulette.
Typically you can press the back button and recover a forum post, though!
And I agree with jobljacobi - DAW switch is probably not going to fix the OP's issues. MixCraft does have some features (like some level of clip launching, etc.) that are missing in Studio One, as well. So, depending on how he uses MixCraft, this may not even be an upgrade.
OP reads more like FOMO and an urge to bandwagon something more "popular" than the need for a better solution.
If I said you are blocked, I won't see your posts. Please kindly refrain from quoting or replying to me.
"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

It's crazy how quick people just jump to conclusions on forums - why I largely avoid forums these days. I gave very little details in my post about why I want to switch, and clearly stated at the end of the post I am open to other DAW options. I don't keep up with whats trendy in the music space, so I had no clue that Studio One was the trendy hotness. What I did know is that I had tried using it back with version 1 and loved the interface, but had some gripes with it (but also didn't demo it very long back then either). So when I decided that I wanted to shift DAW, it was one of the first DAWs that came to mind, figuring through all the years, surely those old gripes will have been fixed. As for Mixcraft, again, you really have no clue what my complaints are about Mixcraft because I didn't include any of that in the topic because that's not what I want this topic to be about. I wanted this topic to be about finding a different DAW, not troubleshooting something I am unhappy with - or for that matter, backseat psychologists to come out and try to diagnose my relationship with my DAW.
I've been going through the tutorial videos and even rebuilt one of my old songs in it and so far, I am actually really happy with it. The only complaint I have is the automation, but maybe I'm just doing something wrong there. Of course my opinion may change over time, but seriously, you dudes must live a bitter life if you feel like you should just judge people based on...really, a very small amount of information.
I'm glad KVR has added self moderation tools. It seems like most of the *relevant* discussion has completed in this topic, but I'll leave it open for now. If the irrelevant backseat psychoanalyzing continues, then I'll go ahead and shut the thread down since that discussion isn't really benefiting anyone; not you and not me.

the automation is pretty good so definitely keep at it. I find that I am using Gatekeeper for a lot of automation tasks now rather than the DAW automation in S1 or Reaper. Bitwig is another thing again, their internal automation is great, main reason I use it.ntom wrote: Wed Dec 29, 2021 12:39 am The only complaint I have is the automation, but maybe I'm just doing something wrong there.

You set the tone by slamming Mixcraft in your title. Sorry folks, I don't really feel like debating this.
I appreciate the links I received, and I'm starting to feel more committed towards Studio One, so I'd say that's mission accomplished.
