I just read this. Well, that would be brilliant. We'll surely not see it from u-he though.fdigl wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:53 amTo be fair, the JP-8k filter would feel out of place in that set of filters. I'd love to see a Diva-style implementation filled with digital modules of the era, like the JP-80x0, AN1x, Supernova II, the Nord Leads, the classic Virus A-C lineup, etc.chk071 wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 12:41 pmYeah. Shame that u-he didn't also implement the JP-8k's filter in Diva, alongside the oscillators.fallacy wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 12:35 pm A huge part of the jp8k sound doesn’t just lie in the oscillators. I thought Sunrizer by beep street would fill this spot, but I truly hate the way it sounds. I’ve owned it for awhile now and there is something sharp and brittle about it. I owned and loved the JP 8080 and the Sunrizer, just isn’t close enough for me.

Zebra hz ( when not using the diva filters ) has the same cpu usage as regular Zebra , same goes for clean mode ( whatever that means )Introspective wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 1:37 pm I still use it, when I want something "clean" or if I'm in a heavy mix and the details don't matter, since it's easier on the CPU. IOW , zebra HZ is 100% patch compatible with regular zebra without any cpu overhead

I don't think they sell the plugin version anymore. Also there's no PC demo version, and when you click on the section of the screen to attempt to buy it, nothing happens.vata44 wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 5:27 pm I thought Sunrizer by beep street would fill this spot, but I truly hate the way it sounds. When you click "Contact Us", I filled out the info except it won't send as it's not working correctly.
I checked the App Store and it seems to be available there, but they really should update their main website.

Good point. I only use "regular" Zebra because my entire (well-curated) patch library is saved as VST presets in my DAW using the original version. ...Using DAW presets is really part of my workflow, even though it has downsides such as this; the benefits handily outweigh the negatives.gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:36 amZebra hz ( when not using the diva filters ) has the same cpu usage as regular Zebra , same goes for clean mode ( whatever that means )Introspective wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 1:37 pm I still use it, when I want something "clean" or if I'm in a heavy mix and the details don't matter, since it's easier on the CPU. One of these days I'll go in and reproduce the patches in ZHZ (they are mostly presets, some tweaks, and only a few originals) so I don't have the duplication... but I am currently too lazy for such an undertaking.

I think Dune 3 is an excelent alternative to Roland JP/Access Virus. It really can sound like those synths.

I guess this makes sense that they never helped when Sunrizer began crashing in Reaper when I would load custom presets. There’s $60 or whatever down the digital drain.Examigan wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 3:26 pm I found this info about Sunrizer on another website:

As for jp6k, I find it limited in its sound design abilities. I think the Superwave synths are the best recreation of the JP8080 GUI, but the sound isn’t quite perfect.

I mean... depending on how demanding you are, I guess everything can sound like those. Or nothing.

Ive worked with JP in the past. As roland jp8000 easely without a question can be emulated. And with dune 3 choice of filters, you can even have a cleaner sound.chk071 wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:44 pmNope...Lbdunequest wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 3:46 pm I think Dune 3 is an excelent alternative to Roland JP/Access Virus. And not too long ago i sold my virus. Virus VA and hypersaw part can be emulated. For other oscillator feature set, can be tricky.

Interesting, I have both Virus TI and Dune3 and use them both quite a bit... I agree there's some overlap in terms of features and the synth architecture but to me they sound very different. Actually I can think of half a dozen VSTi which can sound more similar to Virus, at least in terms of the patches I typcially need from Virus.Lbdunequest wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:48 pm And not too long ago i sold my virus. I have a strong preference to the Virus sound, if Virus is 10/10 in terms of my subjective sound character preferences then Dune is like 7/10 to 8/10. But it does have its uses.
I tend to think, if we are talking about imitating the sound of classic digital hardware, and especially nailing that "something" that made it so awesome, cleaner sound is not alwyas a good thing...Lbdunequest wrote: Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:48 pm As roland jp8000 easely without a question can be emulated. If anything I think Dune often sounds too clean/tame/soft
On topic, I think this project is very promising, though I'm not sure if/when it will be released. Also it will be a Reaktor thing, not a native VSTi.

Did someone already recommended Spire?
There aren't many synths with this options in terms of unison.
Besides of that, the sound character of Spire is in my opinion more Roland, then the more bright "metallic" sound of Waldorf/Access/Clavia.

I just loaded up Spire and noticed there is a preset called PD 8080.
Anyway, it is a nice sounding synth for sure.
