Question about Melody Editor in Rapid Composer

If I change the rhythm of one of the motives (so not the general rhythm change), the rhythm is changed, but many notes become to short. I get many rests in between. So the melody is gone. Same for clicking the rhythm letter and using the popup.

Am I missing something, or is it a bug.

It is not really a bug, but the way applying another rhythm pattern works. When you have a shape with its own rhythm, and you apply another rhythm on it, notes may/will become shorter to accommodate to the new rhythm.

I understand. But if there is a new rhythm, the gaps should be filled, otherwise it is not a melody anymore. It becomes some kind of a staccato melody. A melody has connecting notes.

I have attached a part of my melody.

One more thing. Maybe you can add more choosable options for rhythm. Easy for me to say; I am not a programmer. Options like dotted notes, swing, reggae and others with a specific rhythm.

Totally get what you mean with this I've tried so many different ways to find a workaround. There are some options but it means using a couple of variations.

I have one idea that may fix this.

At the moment when you apply rhythm it effects all the note lengths and the position of notes but if you had the option to apply only the rhythm position. Then that would only affects the note position and leaves the note lengths intact. So you would get the syncopation that you want but without getting loads of gaps in your Melody.
It definitely would give you some interesting results and probably some happy accidents.
Instead of applying rhythm it could be called apply position.

Options are always good.
I still think changing rhythm means getting gaps in a melody is not good. The melody is gone. That is why I cannot use the rhythm option of the Melody editor. I have to use variations or manuals editing to get the melody back every time I change rhythm.
Changing a 1/4 note to 2x 1/8 is good, but changing 1/4 tot x2 1/16 only is not right. Or extend the other notes. Or make the melody shorter.
If I change rhythm on the Rhythm tab on the Phrase editor, there is no problem. Gaps are filled. So it is possible.
Or if there is a need for gaps in the Melody, give us the choice ("Fill gaps / Do not fill gaps") There are many ways to change rhythm, so there could be enough variation possible without gaps.
As mentioned above, an option like change to swing rhythm, etc, would be the cream on the pie.
Or add the existing rhythm generators. That would be double cream on the pie.

Yes, I've already asked to have apply rhythm added to melody editor but unfortunately Attila explained it can't be done But like I was saying my option of applying rhythm position and not note length would solved that because all you would be doing is moving the notes of the melody slightly to the left or slightly to the right or drastically depending on the applied rhythm.

Not sure if you would get the same effect by adding swing but I may be wrong but when I add swing to drums you only get the standard swing rhythms.
